"JASPER, WHERE ARE YOU?" Alice screamed, knowing fully well she didn't exactly have to, given that he had hearing better than anyone else here in the house.

It was around 3 am when she had the vision, her senses being completely taken over and replaced with utter horror and fear as she watched the scene play out in her mind.

Before Edward could come and read the vision from her head, she had shot up and out of the room, searching for Jasper as quick as she could.

She was now outside, standing in the forest that surrounded her home. The moon shined across the trees, the mist hanging over the forest in a thick fog that the rain had left behind.

She turned her head sharply to her side, her eyes scanning across the area in hopes of seeing him. "Jasper!" She yelled again, desperation clinging to her voice.

She turned to the right and ran, using her abilities to find her ex-husband as quickly as she could.

Finally, she could smell him. She heard as feet landed behind her, indicating Jasper had finally come out from hiding.

Alice turned, her eyes burning into his.

"Don't fucking do it."

Her voice was strained, hurt, and fear lacing it like venom. It was a large contrast from the usual happy, upbeat tone she spoke in.

His facial expressions didn't change. He remained silent, staring at the girl with dark eyes.

Alice made her way towards him, desperation shining in her eyes as she took his hand.

"Do you remember when we first met? What was the first thing I ever said to you, Jasper?" She asked, her voice soft with a hard edge as she searched for any indication that he was listening to her.

He looked down upon the short girl, his eyebrows pulled down into a grimace as he recounted those memories.

"You kept me waiting long enough,"

The memories weren't far — almost as if it had happened just yesterday. He didn't answer, yet Alice knew he remembered. Her grip on his hand tightened, giving it a gentle squeeze as she stared into his eyes.

"My apologies, ma'am, I didn't know I had someplace to be," he had said, curiously holding out his hand for her to take. He didn't even know this woman, yet she spoke as if she had seen him coming. He felt intrigued by her, wanting to know more.

He could feel the coldness of her hand, indicating she was, in fact, like him — not human.

The way she spoke captivated him, seemingly having known him for a long time. He was slightly confused, given that he had never even met this girl before.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "No, but I think I know you." She had replied, a small smile gracing across her features.

He looked down upon the girl — the same girl who had changed him completely, who had taught him a different way of living, the girl who up until two weeks ago, thought was his mate.

"It was never me — you need her. Jasper, you don't understand," she snapped. Jasper could feel the panic and pleading radiating off her in such big waves that it almost sent him in a frenzy. Still frozen, he watched her.

"You haven't seen the things I have. If you do this, you will regret it. You can't kill her!"

"She's a danger, Alice!" He finally said, his voice sharp with anger and self-hate. He had to do it — he didn't want to, but he had to. Sara was a danger to this family - to him.

"She's your mate! It was never me! It's her. If you kill her, you will never be the same. Everything that you've worked for," she gestured to the house that contained their family before turning back to him. "Everything will be gone. You'll go back to drinking from humans instead of animals and you'll leave the coven. You'll die! You don't understand, Jasper," she pleaded, desperately wanting to show him her visions.

"You don't understand the pain you'll feel."

Jasper turned his face away sharply, wishing he could cry. "I'm in pain now, Alice," He quietly muttered. "I love her, " His voice broke, his hands reaching up to pull at his hair. "She's human, I can't — I can't."

Alice tugged him back towards her, her arms wrapping around his waist tightly. "I know," she whispered against his shoulder, "But the pain won't last long. I've seen your future with her, and you're so damn happy. You smile like you've never smiled before."

She could feel his body trembling slightly, his emotions finally crashing down upon him. "You just need to give it a chance, Jasper, please."

The gentle music of the jukebox played, filling the diner with a warm hum as people ate. Jasper found himself staring curiously at the girl sat in front of him.

"I'm a vegetarian, so there's not a whole lot for me here," she said, the smile never faltering. He quirked an eyebrow at this. "Vegetarian?"

She nodded, stirring the untouched cup of coffee that sat on the table. "We only eat animals."

Jasper felt confused. Was she not alone?

"We?"

"My family and I." She paused, rethinking what she had just said. "Well, my future family and I."

"You know, you're more than a little intuitive," he said, a small smirk on his flawless face.

"It isn't like I can — see the future or anything." She replied, smiling slightly. "I can just see... glimpses of possibilities."

"Is that what I am? A... possibility?"

Alice shook her head softly, her smile widening. "No. I actually decided on you a while ago."

Jasper's arms tightened around Alice, hugging her with all he had. He truly did love her, but not in that way.

He could feel hope in her words. Maybe he wasn't doomed after all. He had remembered the feeling of hopelessness when he had arrived in that diner on that fateful night. He had nowhere to go.

And then he saw her — well, rather felt her. The emotions radiating off her were so overwhelmingly happy and hopeful that he almost felt the same way as she did. And when she took his hand into hers, he knew he finally wasn't alone.

"So what happens next, Alice?" He questioned, his voice soft as he stared at her. He felt high — high off happiness, hope, and love. He felt complete, as if he had been waiting for this moment all his life — both mortal and immortal.

And she reached her hand out, taking it into her own as she leaned in slightly, her voice quiet and reassuring as she spoke.

"We live."

In this chapter, we mostly see the relationship between Alice and jasper. I enjoyed writing this one ngl

I hope you enjoyed :)
