AS SARA TOOK a seat in her biology class chair, she could immediately sense something was wrong with the beautiful creature next to her.

Alice's small body was tense, her eyes a darker shade of gold than usual, and her expression pulled into a slight frown. Sara raised a curious eyebrow — usually, this girl was happy, filled with some form of light that Forks just rarely ever saw. Without any hesitation, she turned to face the pale girl, leaning in slightly on her elbows.

"Are you alright?" She asked softly, her eyes examining her face for any emotions. However, the girl remained still, nothing in her face indicating Sara had even spoken to her. With a stiff nod, she stayed silent, her eyes staring at the board ahead of her.

Sara didn't buy it. She knew exactly when something was wrong with anyone, nothing got past her. But as she continued to look at Alice, remembered what it was like in her place. She seemed as if she didn't want anyone to bother her, wishing for everyone to leave her alone because if not, she would snap. Sara understood had been just the same way not too long ago - longing to be left alone by everything and everyone.

However, that didn't stop Sara from hugging the girl. Slowly, she leaned forward, embracing the smaller girl.

Alice tensed, her eyes opening wide at the sudden action. She hadn't exactly expected this, but she found herself leaning into her hold, soon wrapping her arms around Sara's waist. "Thank you," she whispered, pulling away to face the board as the teacher came in.

"I'm here for you," she replied, gently setting her hand atop Alice's. She didn't exactly know the girl, yet something in her mind and heart knew there was an instant connection. From the moment her eyes had met the group in the corners, she felt herself being pulled towards them, an invisible rope tying each family member and Sara together. Except, Sara didn't know whether or not this was a good or bad thing. Something was off about them, and her gut told her it may not be very good to form a bond with them. Sighing, she shook the thoughts away. She didn't need this stress right now.

Alice felt troubled. She had noticed and smelt the jacket on Sara, which had only darkened her mood and emotions when Sara had taken a seat next to her. But now, after what had just happened, she turned her head to sneak a glance at the girl beside her — she couldn't help but be relieved from the pain of heartbreak. Funnily enough, this was the girl she had been left for — the girl Jasper had picked. No matter how much she wanted to hate her, she knew it was inevitable; they would become close like sisters in a very short amount of time. And when she had felt her arms wrap around her body, she felt a pure moment of bliss sore through her, as if her mind had been commanded to let go of the hatred and anger.

Turning back to the whiteboard, she couldn't keep the small smile off her face, her mood finally raising after weeks.

This could be good.

The bell had finally rung, signaling the end of the school day and Sara let out a happy, relieved sigh. Finally.

Throwing her backpack over her shoulder, she made her way out of class, pulling her phone and headphones out to play some music. Drowning out the voices of the students around her, she hummed quietly along with the song, shoving past the bodies inside the crowded hallway.

When she finally was outside, she scanned the parking lot, searching for the blonde boy who had so graciously lent her his jacket. Soon enough, she found him, looking just as flawless as ever among his adoptive siblings.

Ignoring the glare that was sent directly towards her by Rosalie, she made her way to the group of siblings — minus a missing Alice —  and smiled as she reached Jasper and took out her earphones.
