Jungkook arrived at the town hall, his mood left a little to be desired after seeing the social media pages of his friends out having a good time while he cleaned his room and dyed his hair. Maybe if he'd gone out and had a quick bunk up with someone, he wouldn't feel so irritable but Jimin had conveniently phoned him later in the evening using some feeble excuse. Jungkook could hear the joy in his voice when he realised that he was at home, sulking in his dorm.
Relationships were not something Jungkook was accustomed to and all this messing about was feeling pretty much like the hassle that comes with dating. He'd had a relationship once, many years ago, the guy had expected so much, he couldn't spend time with his friends after school or live his life the way he wanted to. He had decided that he would never expect anything from anyone, take care of his and the other persons sexual needs, no strings attached, no pressure for someone to spend time with him and make pointless small talk. That suited him and he had been happy until Jimin's bright idea that had led to this.
A further annoyance was that he had wanted to get to the town hall before Taehyung but traffic had been bad and he could see the blonde up ahead waiting for him. He noticed how Tae always seemed to be in his own world when he was stood alone, usually looking at the floor, shuffling his feet. Jungkook wondered if it was a nervous reaction or simply to pass the time.
"Hi" Tae looked up as he got closer, his blonde fringe in his eyes, a brown leather record bag over his shoulder.
"Hi," Jungkook responded, really not in the mood for chatting.
"Your hair. The mahogany colour... looks... erm... nice"
"Thanks. I thought I'd pass the time last night"
"You weren't out?"
"No, didn't feel like it."
Tae was surprised. He thought Jungkook was the type to be out partying every night and hadn't really struck him as the 'night in' sort.
"So... erm... what did you do last night?"
"Dyed my hair, cleaned my room, played some games. You?"
"Went to a bar with Yoongi."
Great, so even Tae was out having fun. Jungkook wanted to ask him if he'd hooked up with someone because a) that would get him off the hook b) it would completely give him the green light to fuck someone and c) he could get his life back to normal.
Yet, he didn't. That felt a little too personal. It led him onto a train of thought about the type of person Tae would get with, what his past relationships have been like? Was he a bottom? Jungkook was sure he was and could imagine him being totally submissive and gentle, he didn't think he was the one night stand sort, more the romantic sort. He pushed the thoughts away, he really wasn't imagining Tae like that or how it would feel to have him under him... no... he had a job to do and that was that. He hadn't had sex in forever so his mind was playing tricks on him.
"What do you think of this one?" Tae's voice brought Jungkook out of his thoughts and back to the hall.
They were standing in front of a metal structure that looked like a few hundred clothes hangers that had been smashed together. The little label said 'the devil on your shoulder' and Jungkook thought it could have said anything and he still wouldn't have a clue.
"Interesting title" he offered as a way of stalling.
"This whole exhibition seems to be about good and evil, that's a great concept." Tae smiled brightly.
"Do you like this piece?"
"I do. It reminds me of the chaos in your mind when you're faced with temptation. That's what I think it means with the title..." he looked straight at Jungkook and continued "... when you know something isn't good for you but you battle with yourself anyway."
