I walked down the cobbled and busy streets of Corona, looking up at the vibrant blue sky. Days like today were the best. No urgent chores, or responsibilities; just wandering around. There was so much hubbub in my life recently, and it was nice to just breath.

I had no plan, just to go on a walk in the woods and explore. I just couldn't wait for that feeling of serenity and freedom. Even though I was in the middle of a street, I closed my eyes and let the warmth of the sun soak into my skin...

"(Y/n), watched out!" a voice called out as my eyes shot open. A runaway horse and cart was hurdling towards me! I had no time to react, except for a quick gasp that escaped my lips. Then a hand grabbed my arm and steadily pulled me a few feet out of the way. The speeding stead galloped by, thankfully hurting nobody. I turned and met a pair of clear blue eyes that looked at me with concern. Townspeople erupted in a flurry of chatter, no doubt speaking about the former event.

"Hey Varian." I gave him a grin, as his eyebrows knit together.

"'Hey'?" the messy-haired boy asked in a confused tone, "You almost die, and all you can say is 'hey'?" he continued.

"Thank you for saving my life, it would've been suboptimal for me to die. You truly are my hero." I said in a half-genuine, half-joking voice. Varian was reluctant to believe my words, but then his mouth lifted into a smile.

"I know, right." he spoke through his beam, "The cart was all like," Varian made a wooshing noise and gestured his hands along the horizon, "and I was like: (Y/n)!!!" he reenacted, obviously proud of his courageous act.

"You should ask Eugene for a medal of bravery." I nudged him in the shoulder playfully.

"Do you think so?" Varian turned to me in excitement. I gave him a doubtful look and continued.

"If you didn't get one for helping save the Kingdom from an ancient demon; then I doubt that this would get you one." his face fell slightly, but soon he regained his friendly aura.

"What were you doing out in town, anyway?" Varian inquired, changing the subject, leaning casually against the building we were standing by.

"I was just passing through, to go in a walk in the woods." I gestured to the beyond the Corona bridge, where the landscape was dotted with oak trees and green fields as far as the eye could see.

"A walk in the forest?" Varian asked, pushing back from the wall and standing upright again. I nodded and gave him a positive 'mhm'. "By yourself?" he continued, this time with more urgency.

"Yes, by myself." I raised an eyebrow and laughed at his unneeded concern.

"But- that's dangerous!" the freckled teenager warned.
