god, even i don't understand my past self's unconditional love
remember when i felt like that about you?
as though i'd wait for you to come around, sweep me off my feet, walk into the sunset hand in hand
it was simply idiotic to think i could put up with your bullshit for that long
your fears can only excuse so much, love
i'm not here to educate you on how to be a decent human being,
but maybe start with not sending people into an almost-panic attack on a far-fetched guess, for one
but anyway,
maybe i'll care a little, just for a while
but we're too far gone to go back to cheesy pick up lines now, sweetheart
you're just somebody that i used to know now
always, i'll care by jeremy zucker and somebody that i used to know by gotye and kimbra are the songs i'm referencing in the first and last lines. they kind of remind me of the beginning and (what's hopefully) the end of my relationship with the subject of the poem.
side note: i got a new cover made by the fantastic @sereneur !! it definitely embodies me and the one thing that ties all these random poems together (bursts of inspiration).
other side note: bursts is at 800 reads and 200 votes :D thank you sm to those that stuck w this book, its nonexistent update schedule, and rambling poetry. this isn't a novel, so it's probably never going to be popular, but i always appreciate every read (even glance, tbh), comment (literally just emojis makes my day), and vote (the smile i get is blinding).
