Rose- part 4

"Think of it, plastic all over the world, every artificial thing waiting to come alive. The shop window dummies, the phones, the wires, the cables-" The Historian explained as the four of them ran across the bridge.

" The breast implants." Rose added.

The doctor ignored her and said " Still, we've found the transmitter. The Consciousness must be somewhere underneath."

"What about down here?" Rose asked as the Historian opened up a hatch of a manhole, seeing a red light shining at the bottom.

"Bingo." Grinned Henry as the four of them hurred down the steps.

" The Nestene Consciousness. That's it, inside the vat. A living plastic creature." The Historian hissed as they all looked at a big pool of living plastic.

"Well, then. Tip in your anti-plastic and let's go."

"We're not here to kill it. I've got to give it a chance." She hissed back. "Doctor?" She asked.

He nodded at her and the pair began to walk towards the Nestene Consciousness together.

"We seek audience with the Nestene Consciousness under peaceful contract according to convention 15 of the Shadow Proclamation." The Doctor said. They watched as it flexed slightly. "Thank you. If I might have permission to approach?"

Then, from behind they heard someone running and shouting. " Oh, God! Mickey, it's me! It's okay. It's all right."

"That thing down there, the liquid. Rose, it can talk!"

"Rose!" Henry yelled as he ran forwards towards her.

" You're stinking. Doctor, Historian, they kept him alive." Rose gasped to Mickey.

" Yeah, that was always a possibility. Keep him alive to maintain the copy." The Historian called back.

"You knew that and you never said?"

"Can we keep the domestics outside, thank you?" She groaned.

The Doctor rolled his eyes and looked back to the Nestene Consciousnessm "Am I addressing the Consciousness? Thank you. If I might observe, you infiltrated this civilisation by means of warp shunt technology. So, may I suggest, with the greatest respect, that you shunt off?"

A face formed in the vat and the Historian folded her arms. " I dont think so. This is an invasion, plain and simple."

"Don't talk about constitutional rights. I am talking!" The Doctor yelled down at it. "This planet is just starting. These stupid little people have only just learnt how to walk, but they're capable of so much more. I'm asking you on their behalf. Please, just go."

"Doctor!" Rose cried as the mannequins were beginning to close in on them, come had hold of Henry... then they grab hold of the Doctor and The Historian, taking the anti plastic from his pocket.

"Henry! You okay?" She yelled at the man on the edge.

"Fine, Historian." He yelled back as he tried to pull his arms free.

"That was just insurance. I wasn't going to use it. I was not attacking you. We're here to help. We're not your enemy. I swear, we're not. What do you mean?"

A door slid across and revealed the TARDIS. The Historian turned the Doctor with a frown. "I'll leave this to you... great plan, hun."

He groaned and looked to the plastic. "No. Oh, no. Honestly, no. Yes, that's my ship."
