The Empty Child- Part one

The Historian slapped a button on the TARDIS console and turned as Rose asked "What's the emergency?"

"It's mauve." The Doctor called.

"Mauve?" Rose asked.

The Historian shrugged. "The universally recognised colour for danger."

"What happened to red?"

The Doctor looked up. " That's just humans. By everyone else's standards, red's camp. Oh, the misunderstandings. All those red alerts, all that dancing. It's got a very basic flight computer. I've hacked in, slaved the Tardis. Where it goes, we go."

"And that's safe, is it?:

"Totally." They grin before hearing a loud bang. The Doctor shrugged. "Okay, reasonably. Should have said reasonably there. No, no, no, no! It's jumping time tracks, getting away from us."

Rose frowned as she looked to the monitor. "What exactly is this thing?"

The Historian shrugged. "No idea."

" Then why are we chasing it?"

"It's mauve and dangerous, and about thirty seconds from the centre of London."

They materialised inside an alleyway in London, stepping out of the TARDIS. "Do you know how long you can knock around space without happening to bump into Earth?" The Doctor said.

" Five days? Or is that just when we're out of milk?" Rose frowned.

The Doctor groaned. " Of all the species in all the Universe and it has to come out of a cow."

The Historian rolled her eyes. "Enough of the cows, please. Now, it must have come down somewhere quite close. Within a mile, anyway. And it can't have been more than a few weeks ago. Maybe a month."

"A month? We were right behind it."

The Doctor looked to Rose "It was jumping time tracks all over the place. We're bound to be a little bit out. Do you want to drive?"

" Yeah. How much is a little?"

" A bit."

"Is that exactly a bit?"

" Ish."

" What's the plan, then? Are you going to do a scan for alien tech or something?"

The Doctor rolled his eyes and took out his psychic paper. " Rose, it hit the middle of London with a very loud bang. I'm going to ask."

"Doctor John Smith, Ministry of Asteroids." Rose read.

" It's psychic paper. It tells you-"

"Whatever you want it to tell me, I remember. Come on then Historian. What does yours say?"

She pulled hers out and turned it to Rose. " Bonnie Jones department of Historial events." Rose read aloud. "Wow, you two dont hold back do you?"

She grinned and hid her paper inside her pocket as she turned to a door. "What can I say? We're impressive."

The Historian tried her sonic on the doors and Rose rolled her eyes. "Not very Spock, is it, just asking."

The Doctor rolled his eyes and looked to her " Door, music, people. What do you think?"

"I think you should do a scan for alien tech. Give me some Spock, for once. Would it kill you?"

The Historian opened the door and looked to Rose's shirt "Are you sure about that t-shirt?" She asked.
