*Annabella's POV*

Right, come on Bella! Keep yourself composed. You can do this. It's only potions, you are good at potions... you will be fine. Just ignore the professor.

Stepping into the cold, stone room sent chills down my spine. This place seemed to be colder than anywhere else in the dungeons, and it was only September. I didn't want to think about what it would be like in the middle of winter. I held the heavy door open as Draco and I walked in, still hand in hand -mine quite clearly shaking, so he squeezed me as a form of comforting. I appreciated having him there beside me, otherwise truth be told I may not even be here. Suddenly, a flurry of black fabric in front of my face pulled me from my thoughts.

"Please disengage in the physical contact while you are in my classroom. Regrettably, you will both be separated... Mr Malfoy you will be with Crabbe and Miss Riddle... you can go with Mr Zabini, I'm sure you will get along well."

"But sir! Annabella needs someone to help her catch up on the work and who can help her, and she will need to help me at the moment, I have broken my arm and elbow so I can't write. And you and I both know that Crabbe can't even read his own writing, let alone me being able to! Please Professor, I would really appreciate it if you would do that for me." Draco spoke with a sickly sweet smile on his face. Oh he was good... The professor gave it some thought before making a final decision.

"Very well, Mr Malfoy. You and Miss Riddle will be partnered together. But there is to be no changing after that..." I noticed that he spoke strangely slow and in a condescending manner. I didn't like it. "Mr Zabini and Crabbe you will be together."

"Ugh but professor I will fail if I'm stuck with him!" Blaise moaned as Crabbe picked his stuff up and moved desks, seemingly not even noticing Blaise's comment.

"Enough Mr Zabini, you will have to put up with it. There is to be no changing of partners after today!" He announced to the class, everyone nodded in acknowledgement. Draco nodded for me to follow him over to what I assumed were our seats. We were right at the front of the class. That got had put us at the front on purpose I bet. I sat down and got out both of our books from our bags, glancing at Draco who seemed to be intensely listening to whatever Snape was droning on about. He took his attention off of the potions master for a second to look at me, a smirk on his face as he shot me a wink, before refocusing his attention to the front again. I decided it was probably best to write down the notes that the professor had told us to do before I got a smack from Draco for being incompetent. I got out my parchment, quill and ink, setting them neatly on my desk before getting lost admiring Draco again.

This time he focused his attention solely on me. "Can I help you, Bella?"

"How did you do it? Why did you do it? Convince Snape, I mean... I would have been perfectly happy with Blaise"

"I know."

"So remind me why you swapped us then?"

"I didn't want to see you flirting with Blaise constantly... Plus Crabbe would have had to do the practical work because of my arm, which would mean we would both fail"

"Oh, nice to know you are possessive and selfish!" I raised my brows, slightly annoyed that he moved us because he didn't want to fail and in turn, stopped me getting to know Blaise better. He could be a right twat at times.

"What's wrong with not wanting to fail? And I would have thought you would appreciate having me as your partner? I am top of the class, even better than Mudblood in this one"

"Nothing's wrong with wanting to get a good grade, but maybe you should have asked me first? That all... And don't you dare call her that! You know how I feel about that name! She was the one who told Hagrid to take you to Madame Pomfrey! She seems like a sweet girl..." I was getting increasingly annoyed with the blonde boy next to me, if he was going to keep up this act of being stone cold and a bully, then I sure as hell needed to make some other friends besides his lot...

He narrowed his eyes before facing away from me once again, creating a blanket of hostility covering us. I arose from my seat, collected my bag and walked over to Blaise.

"Oi you, shift it! You're back with Malfoy." I glared at Crabbe, daring him to disobey. He looked terrified as he quickly got out of his seat and shuffled away to where a sulking Draco was sitting.

"Miss Riddle, what do you think you are doing? I said no swapping seats! Go back to where you were!" Snape rose his voice but still maintained the painfully slow pace. I ignored his efforts to get me to move and sat down in the chair next to Blaise. Hushed laughs echoed throughout the classroom,

"Silence! Miss Riddle, detention after dinner! I will not have you acting like a petulant child in my classroom..."

"He was the one acting like a petulant child... I moved back to where you originally planned for me to go and since I never agreed to sit next to Mr Malfoy, I don't see why it's such a problem" I had leaned forward slightly and raised a brow with a sweet smile on my face, my head tilted slightly.

"I did not ask for that information. Students will raise their hands in my class if they wish to speak, you should do well to remember that. If you speak out of turn again I will not hesitate to extend your detention." He retorted with the same facial expression I had just given him, he was mocking me...
Oh he doesn't know who he is messing with... I slumped back in my chair letting out a frustrated groan, glaring sideways to where Draco was sitting, narrowing my eyes. However, I stayed where I was, standing my ground. Looking back at Snape, he was fuming, his face contorted in anger as he raised his wand to point at my chair, probably to force me out of it. Before he could do so, I glanced at a cabinet filled with viles of ingredients and potions. Soon after, they all came flying out as planned. An evil smirk crawled across my face when I saw Snape's attention drawn to the smashed contents of his cabinet spread out on the floor.

"Oh no! I reckon you should clean that up right away professor..." I winked as I got out my book and quill once again. Turning to Blaise, "Hey can I copy any notes you have that I int know yet?"

"Yeah sure..." The poor boy looked petrified,

"Thank you!" I gave him a peck on the cheek before looking for notes that I may need to copy.

"Get out... now" I heard Snape's low voice say right next to my ear. Clenching my jaw, I reluctantly obliged, I didn't want to be in this class anyway -at least not anymore. I didn't bother collecting my belongings, I assumed he would talk to me in the hallway and then send me back in. Walking towards the heavy oak door, I felt a cold hand grab my wrist and pull me down. I was staring eye-to-eye with Draco. He looked pissed off, I wouldn't blame him.

"Can I help you?" I snarled, releasing my wrist from his grip.

"This is what you call your best behaviour?" He inquired with a face like thunder.

"Yes, actually it is. He should consider himself lucky I didn't hex him. Now I would appreciate it if you could let go of this pathetic conversation and allow me to leave... I'm trying to do as the professor said" I added, a fake smile plastered on my face. The sad thing is, I wasn't lying when I said I was on my best behaviour. I was much worse at Beauxbatons.
