Silently Watching You - Ryeji

Chapter 26

The next day...

Ryujin was wandering around the campus after the librarian dismissed her. She was called to do library duty mainly just arranging the books in the bookshelves. Honestly, she didn't do anything that resulted her doing library duty.

Instead, the librarian just saw her wandering and asked her if she could kindly help arrange the books. Ryujin had a few minutes contemplating whether to refuse or not but she just agreed anyways.

It only took her an hour before the librarian kindly thanked her and let her go which Ryujin was thankful for that.

The whole afternoon had no class for them and some of her classmates are either wandering as well or just staying at the cafeteria to eat.

Yesterday before they could go home and like promised Jisu came and handed the permission slips to everyone at their grade. She reminded us that we had a week til the deadline to pass the permission slips so we can have time to asks our parents.

Dad was okay with it tho and even assured me that he can take care of Yuna on his own which earned a whine by the younger as she said she could take care of herself by her own. But still, Yuna agreed to it.

Right now Ryujin had been mindlessly walking for a couples of minutes before she arrived at the baseball field where she saw the players doing runs.

She saw a glimpse of Jiwoo jogging with the most brightest smile she has despite the fact that her other teammates were already exhausted.

She also saw Yeji jogging with passion in her eyes as she was just beside Jiwoo as the two finished the lap together.

Ryujin stood there as she pulled the hood of her jacket over her head to prevent the sun hitting her face as she admired Yeji from afar.

She watched how fast Yeji pitched towards the catcher and Ryujin saw Yeji's Coach clapped in satisfaction as she called for Jiwoo next.

Ryujin felt hungry so she decides to take a u-turn to buy some food at the vending machine just at the corner.

"INCOMING BALL!"

Ryujin heard a shout and looked behind her to see a ball flying towards her. Luckily, she caught before it could hit her right in the face.

"Oh! Ryujin-ah. Sorry that was just an accident. Nice catch by the way"

Ryujin looked to her right to see Yeji lightly panting beside her with a grin on her face.

"It's okay and thank you unnie" Ryujin says handing the ball to Yeji as they hands made contact Ryujin felt something twist inside her stomach.

What was that...

Ryujin thought as their hands no longer together, a small frown formed on her lips but quickly put a smile so the older wouldn't notice.

"Have you ever thought about joining baseball, Ryujin-ah?" Yeji says with the most curious light fury eyes Ryujin had seen. And it was so different when she was ambitious and determined about something.

"No thanks. I've already had Chaeryeong and Chaeyeon-unnie trying to let me join the dance team. " Ryujin says with slight annoyance and which Yeji chuckled.

"Too bad. We would've been a great pair together" Yeji says bluntly and Ryujin gave her a curious look on. Because one, Ryujin still wasn't sure what feelings does she have for the older and two, she was confused whether the older was hinting something.

Yeji soon realized and thought that maybe Ryujin took it the other way. Which she didn't exactly mind....... But she didn't want to jump to conclusions first that maybe just maybe the younger had some sort of feelings for her if she said it.

"I-i mean... Uhm you know.. We would be a great duo out there. You and me, y'know" Yeji says awkwardly and mentally face-palm herself. She bit her bottom lip hoping wouldn't Ryujin notice that clearly she had feelings for the younger.

"I get what you mean unnie but I'm a lazy smol bean remember? You can't simply drag my ass to the field everyday" Ryujin says and Yeji sigh in relief that it wasn't what she expect in her mind.

"I guess you're right" Yeji chuckled which made Ryujin smile.

"Hey Yeji! Hate to break the moment with your girlfriend right there but we still have practice! So get your ass over here!" Coach Park shouted from across the field.

Ryujin and Yeji both widened their eyes with a tint of pink showing from their cheeks as they both avoided eye contact.

"She's not my girlfriend!" yet.

"Just hurry up!" Their coach shouted and Yeji shouted an 'Okay' before turning her gaze back to the younger.

"I think i should get going now or else I'll be dead" Yeji says scratching her nape.

"Sure, I'll see you later again next time" Ryujin says as she was about to walk away when Yeji called her.

"Ryujin-ah wait!" Yeji says already nervous about what she was going to say when Ryujin was looking at her being cute.

Okay calm down Yeji.. You can do this... Breathe i— AKSDHSJS WHY DID SHE SMILE SO CUTE

Ryujin wondered what was going on Yeji's mind as the older closed her eyes dramatically.

"C-can... Canweexhcnagenumberssowecantexteachother?" Yeji said with one breathe and Ryujin couldn't catch what she said.

"What???" Ryujin looked at her confused and Yeji swear she could pinch her cheeks.

"I said.. Uhmm can we exchange numbers so we can text each other..." Yeji says looking everywhere except Ryujin as she finally calm down.

"Yah, Pabo-unnie. Of course we can" Ryujin smiled in amusement at how clearly -cute- embarrassed Yeji was in front of her.

They exchange their numbers in time before Yeji could get scolded by her Coach and they parted ways. Ryujin decided to go back to her classroom to take her things as she checked the time to see school was almost over.

She shot a quick text to 2jin at the gc if their class had already ended but guessing that they haven't replied maybe they still have.

"Hmm.. Maybe I'll wait at the car" she mumbles as she walks up the stairs.

She waits for a text from the two but received a text from Yeji instead. Unknowingly, the corner of her lips curved upward as she reads the text.

I was wondering if you are free to hang out this Saturday?
Its fine if you aren't :)

Ryujin doesn't even remember where she got that nickname but she liked it because it suited Yeji  and its sounds the same as the one the older gave her.

Yeah sure, im free all day :)

Great! I'll text you when and where to meet up.
Coach is glaring at me right now.
So i better go :)

Ryujin was thinking whether she sounded rude or cold judging by the way she texts but it all fades away when Yeji sent a heart emoticon. God, this girl is something.

She then heard a faint knock on her car's window making her turn her attention to her left to see her friends waving at her.

She unlocks the doors and they went inside putting on their seatbelts.

"So... What was that about" Chaeryeong teasingly says as Ryujin looked at them to see they were smiling at her.

"Oh my god. not again" Ryujin groaned as she ignored them chucking at the back with Heejin singing 'Oh my god yes'. She turns on the engine so they could finally head home already.
