"I warned her, again and again, to stay away from Liam, but she never listens" Austin said with a sigh as they walked through the long corridor. Theo glanced at him for a second before looking in the front again.
"I warned her too, I guess his facade was way too good. And I'll make sure she listens from now on, at least in these matters" Theo said sternly as Austin nodded slowly.
"But why were you so agitated by him?" Theo asked as Austin looked up in a start but his eyes diverted as his face made a pained expression.
"Listen you don't have to te-"
"October 3, 2016. Liam Vanderbilt raped my older sister, Lily" he started as Theo's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Earlier, he was a good friend of mine, he would frequently come over to my house to study. But that all changed when he ruined my sister" his eyes watered a bit.
"I fought with him, told my father. My sister was traumatized and couldn't even open her mouth. But at that time Liam's father was in a really influential position and dad didn't want to anger him" Austin looked up to see Theo listening intently to what he was saying with a serious expression.
"So he let it go. Called it quits, apparently, he loved his reputation more than he could ever love his kids. My sister committed suicide a year later and Liam still got to run free, pretending like nothing ever happened" he said through gritted teeth as he wiped the tears that spilled out from his eyes.
Theo was surprised and shocked. He had never heard about his sister's demise. Hell, no one knew. Flynn Hannigan must have made sure that no media got that information. Theodore was embarrassed to think that he considered that vile human his friend.
Theo stopped walking and so did Austin. He put his hand on the younger boy's shoulder as he looked at him sympathetically.
"I saw my sister's image in Inez, I wanted to save her. I always made sure to stay with her whenever Liam approached her. I couldn't tell her about my sister because my father had ordered me not to, but I think I didn't want to. Or more so, couldn't bring myself to say it" he said.
"It's ok. I am so sorry for your loss" Theo muttered in a low voice as Austin sniffled and looked down.
"The one time I failed to look after her, she was put at risk. I failed her" he cried out as Theo's brows scrunched up in sadness as he patted the young boy's back.
