I couldn't sleep. I was feeling really bad... Pretending to be Kenefer's fiance, wife... while having a loving husband and kids back at home... I was feeling bad... Now pretending I was a goddess... I was just a normal human being and this did not sit well with me...
Abasi doesn't deserve to be treated this way, I feel sick that I made him crawl in front of me... and Kanefer... poor thing... the pain in his eyes...
I could see the dead bodies lying in the street from my window. The plague seemed to thrive at night as the bodies were completely covered by bugs; some frog-like creatures came out from the mud and ate the bugs ... the whole scene turned my stomach.
I didn't know what I was going to do. I learned everything that the AI knew of the future king of Egipt, Meryibtawy. I thought if history chose him to rule, maybe I could use this to my advantage and save some lives... My endorsement could help him, provide him with the recognition he needed. Maybe the riots and war could be avoided?
What if Meryibtawy would say no? What if he wouldn't turn up? What if he saw right through my charade? What if he is was a savage and would just kill and rob because that was his plan? At the end of the day, he is was just a man... maybe I should try to appeal to his ego? All these thoughts kept running through my mind.
My contemplation was disturbed by a noise, I turn around and see Michael quietly walking into the room.
"You are not sleeping?" he asks "I was just checking on you, I heard a noise"
"It must have been the creaking floor, sorry. I can't seem to stop pacing... I can't sleep, I gave up on that..." I say
"I can't sleep either" he responds and walks towards me.
"In your travels have you ever met or heard of Meryibtawy? I just keep wishing I would know what sort of man is he..."
"No, I never had the pleasure... To be honest this is not my favourite place in time... Egipt consumed by the biblical plagues..."
"Oh, is that what this is?"
"Yes, I think so..."
"Didn't the river Nile turn in to blood during that time?" I didn't manage to hear his answer as the door opens and Abasi walked in.
"Amunet" he bows "Meryibtawy is at your service"
"Now?"
"He wants to see you immediately"
"Where is he?"
"He is waiting at your temple"
"At my temple? Why there?"
"I thought... we thought... you might be most comfortable at the place of your worship...?"
I look at Michael dubiously, he comes forward and tucks his hand around my arm giving me support while at the same time appearing to escort me.
"Very well then," I say as I am leaving the room with Michael and Abasi.
As we open the front door to the inn and step outside a crowd of people greet us. They hold candles and fire torches, it is quite a sight. They split down the middle creating a tunnel; we walk through with Michael and make our way to the temple with the crowd in tow.
When we get to the temple there is fire, torches and candles everywhere. There is music, and young girls dancing, a group of men in the corner, all dressed like Abasi. They must be the priests of the temple... I decide to head towards them.
I notice right in front of me, right down the middle of the temple, a huge stone statue of me. Looking exactly as now in my wedding dress... I decide to ignore the priests and make a show of my own. I know that the temple is filling up with people. Abasi is walking right behind me. As I walk past the priests they notice me and look up shocked.
