Once they were gone it took me a moment to realise that it was all up to me now. I still had the suit on me, so hopefully, there is enough whatever was needed for the last couple of trips to return the baby... But not yet... I am not ready to leave yet... I missed the kids and Robert... I need to see them first. I can always take the baby tomorrow?Once I changed the baby's nappy and put him back in the pram I changed back into my normal clothes and decided to finish my cleaning routine in the house... I just needed to give myself a moment to process everything that had happened... And what is a better way to work things out if not while cleaning? Once I got to the dining table and started to put away cups from our tea I found a vile of white powder next to Michael's cup.
This one I should keep safe and nearby...I put it in my bedside table's draw...
I was surprised how quickly I managed to step right back into my old routine... Before I knew it I had the dinner ready and it was the time for the kids to return from school...
"Mum we are back!" I hear Emily shout followed by the bang of the front door.
I run to the corridor and embrace both of them and start to shower them with kisses on their heads...
"I missed you so much..." tears start to fall down my cheek
Jack wraps his little hands around my wais and burrows his face in my stomach
"I missed you to mum," he says as he finally lets go of me and goes inside the house.
"Mum, are you ok?" Emily asks puzzled as she takes off her shoes and continues saying
"You have only seen us this morning before we went home... It wasn't that long ago..."
"Maybe..." I say as I wrap my arms around her skinny body and pull her close to me and kiss the top of her head again...
"Muuum! what is this baby doing here?!" I hear Jack shouting.
Right, I have to explain the baby... I forgot about that for a minute...
Emily looks up at me with her big green eyes... and suddenly I realise how similar they are to Michael's...
"Mum... What baby is Jack talking about?" Squashed in my arms Emily asks. I look at her with love and really don't want to let her go, but then baby Bo starts screaming...
"Muuu! It's screaming! Jack shouts. Emily releases herself from my embrace and runs to the living room curious. I follow her. She runs up to the parm and lifts the baby up carefully, making funny faces. Bo seems to like the attention and immediately stops crying.
What a sight... Bo would fit in perfectly into our family...
"This is baby Bo. He will stay with us for a little bit. I promised I will look after him, as his parents are not able to do it."
"Who are his parents?" Jack asks
"Oh, friends of mine, you don't know them... Are you hungry? Dinner is ready?" I say
"Are we not going to wait for daddy to come back to eat together?"
"We can, but we don't have to if you are hungry now. I can eat with dad later when he comes back. So shall I serve?"
"Well, I am a bit peckish..." says Jack
"Ok, you two, put Bo down in his pram and go get changed. I will serve dinner."
Jack disappeared immediately, but Emily seemed to enjoy holding Bo and wasn't rushing off. I went to the kitchen and served food and when I came back Jack is changed and is sitting on the sofa, holding the baby and whispering something to him.
