We only managed to go forward a few centuries while still remaining in Ancient Egypt. My AI explained that the current king is Neferirkare II and he has no children, which made me sigh with relief...

I looked around; everything had changed. Sure, the buildings were still there, more of them, but somehow different...

It was dark, I thought it was simply overcast at first, but my AI explained that there has been an accident of some sort, a leak from some machines that prevented us from seeing the sun clearly. Bugs whre flying everywhere... bugs of all sorts of sizes and colours, sticking to anything and everything they could see. Michael and I hastily cover our skin completely so we won't feel when the bugs would settle on us.

As we walked through the streets of Egypt, we couldn't miss the human and non-human bodies lying dead all around, sometimes covered with a cloth and always covered with bugs... I could see big boils covering the skin of the dead, I was scared...

The roads were very muddy, and my feet were sinking with every step up to my ankles.

"What happened here?" I asked Michael

"What do you mean?"

"All this..." I point to the streets and the bodies "The last time we were here, it was amazing... The sun, people were so friendly..."

"Ask your AI about the reign of Neferirkare II" So I did.

I found out that the contagion in the air is causing a great sickness and people are unable to deal with the number of dead. The river Nile is not handling the issue well and is overflowing causing floods. There is plague a on the livestock. The people are angry and scared. The last king died at a very young age along with his wife due to the sickness, leaving their only son Neferirkare, who is now only seventeen years old, who has been in charge for the past year and a half...

"Michael, are we ok? Can we not catch this disease?"

"We should be ok..."

"How is that?"

"Our DNA is different ..."

"How can our DNA be different? I guess different from the non-human-looking creatures?"

"Yes, however it will not be known yet for many centuries. It is said that one of the humans released the sickness into the air to kill those with impure human DNA, but even with all the time travel, this has never been confirmed."

"Oh, that's horrible"

We get to the street, which I recognise as well; here is where the market used to be. That's where we meet the salesman... there is a temple, still with beautiful, golden and colourful paintings craved on the walls. As we are passing by, I couldn't stop myself from admiring it. Something is going on inside, people are singing, talking amongst themselves, some, standing outside while looking in. I look over their shoulders trying to see what they are looking at. There are pictures, beautiful pictures, in gold and bright colours. A beautiful woman, some sort of gathering, a wedding?... I see a, centaur? Wait a minute... I follow the sequence of pictures... there...the centaur, a snake, the woman with Egyptian gods on each side, the woman surrounded by what appears to be light, becoming... a god herself... Is that me?!

"Michael, Michael!"

"What is it?"

"Did you see this?"

"What's that?"

"This!" I point at the pictures

"Oh, yes, it is very normal in this century to draw stories like this for people of Egypt to admire and understand their history and their god's history..."
