Chapter 17: Losing Everyone

You were in the infirmary sitting beside Genevive. She looked pale and she was sweating profusely from her forehead. You got a wet cloth and put it on her forehead. You were worried for Genevive. She was not getting any better and you didn't know what was wrong with her. 

   " Genevive I'm sorry this has happened to you. I really wish you were up and jumping around but you need to rest. "

You held her hand while she slept. Her work was a lot, and it made you tired each day. So, with your work, Genevives, and a portion of Elina's it was work all day. Right now it was seven at night and the stars were out, shining in the sky. You wanted to visit Genevive one last time before going to bed.

   " I'll come back tomorrow. Get better, Gen. "

You stood up from your chair and squeezed her hand before leaving the infirmary. You started walking down the hallway and trying to find your room door. You spotted the garden and decided to take a step outside before going to bed. You wanted to look at the stars before the clouds covered them up. It's been snowing a lot and today was one of the days it didn't.

You walked down the stairs and toward the glass doors to the garden. You pushed them open and walked into the cold night air. The air kissed your skin and you felt a shiver around your body as the cold touched you. You looked up at stars and started making connections. You connected the stars together and started seeing the shapes in the dark sky. 

You sighed and could see your cold breath in the air. You were worried for Jin, Genevive, and Elina. Elina had started living in the palace with the man she met at the ball. You had not received a letter in a couple of weeks and you wanted to know what was going on. 

   " I need to get out of here. " 

You cupped your hands around your mouth and breathed warm air into your hands. You were shocked when a pair of hands covered your eyes and pulled you into a strong chest. You grabbed the hands and wanted to pry them away from your face but you didn't when a familiar voice spoke to you.

   " Guess who? "

You didn't struggle and turned around to come face to face with the person you missed the most. You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck to hug him and he hugged you back. He was warm and you smiled into the embrace. His arms circled your waist and held you against him. 

   " Good to see you too! "

   " When did you get out, Jin! "

   " Just a few moments ago. They let me go and I went to get changed. I started looking for you when I ran into Queen Harding and she said you went out here. "

   " It's good to see you. How are the scars on your back? "

   " They're not bad bad. They're healing up slowly. I'm just sensitive there and I think I will be for a while. "

   " Glad I wrapped my arms around your neck. "

   " Hey, remember when I asked you that question when you first visited me? "

   " What question? "

He held your chin and tilted it up towards him. You looked into his eyes and they sparkled. He was smiling and his warm hand caressed your cheek.

   " You seriously don't remember? "

   " Nope! "

   " I asked that if I could have a real kiss if I got out. You said that I would have to wait and see. "

   " Yeah, and? "

   " Do I get a kiss? "

   " Should you? "

   " I believe so. "

   " Hmm, you might be right. "

You leaned up and kissed him. Your warm lips connected with his hand melted instantly. You could feel a spark light a fire between you and you felt warm. He kissed you back immediately and the sparks exploded. You didn't want the kiss to end anytime soon.

Jin's lips were soft and plump. Your lips fit perfectly with his and the kiss was sweet and loving. If it wasn't for your lungs screaming at you to get air you would have continued kissing him. When your lips pulled away from his you could see Jin's smile widen. He tried to bring you as close as he could and hug you as tight as he could with his strength.

   " That was better than what I imagined. "

   " Same here. "

You held him and he held you. You were embracing each other in the cold feeling as warm as a fire. You were happy that Jin was released and had come back to you. Jin was equally as happy to hold you back and finally kiss you after all those nights of being beat. This night made it worth living through that again.

From the doorway to the garden, there stood another figure. The figure was tall and as thin as a toothpick. His hair was cut and he was wearing his formal clothes once more. Of course, they were all a smaller size because he couldn't fit in his usual clothes anymore. His eyes were wide and his fists were slack as he watched the two lovers.

His thoughts had gone insane and his fists started to ball. He felt angry that he had witnessed a love blossom. Angry that his love kissed and loved another man. After all those nights of being beat worse than the assassin and starving to death, he expected you to smile at seeing him. After all, Quinn did get out the same day as Jin did, so why did he not receive the love treatment?

   ' This will have to be dealt with. She. Is. Mine. '
