When I fell down,
Dad, did you catch me?
When I cried at night,
Dad, did you sooth me?
When I scraped my knee,
Dad, did you bandage me?
When I had a broken heart,
Dad, did you mend it for me?
When I got sick,
Dad, did you nurse me?
When I had bad grades,
Dad, did you help me?
When I say to you,
Dad, you never did,
Do not take offense,
Dad, that's how it is.
