Bleeker Street
Washington DC
April 2014

Iola fled from the scene of the crash seconds after she realised the masked man was gone and the distant wails of sirens were heard. Her head was pounding, the slice in her leg aching. She couldn't call anyone, the attack on the car wasn't just for Fury but for her too. She was now a fugitive of S.H.I.E.L.D, with nowhere but one place to go.

Not the person I want to see right now, but I don't have any other choice.

Iola made her way through the shadowy streets until she made it to Steve's apartment. His motorcycle wasn't parked out front meaning he wasn't in but that wouldn't stop her. She climbed up the steps gingerly and entered the buildings front door. She made her way up the floors until she reached Steve's apartment door. She heard shuffling behind his neighbour's door, and she froze. That was until they opened their door. Agent Carter stared back at her.

"Iola! What are you doing here?" She announced, a smile plastered across her lips. Her smile faltered when she saw the state Iola was in.

Iola turned her body to face the agent but pulling her by the cuff and slammed the agent up against the wall.

"What did Fury tell me before I was fully recruited as an agent?"

Sharon looked at the blonde wide-eyed.

"Don't trust anyone, even those closest to you, not even me."

Iola released the agent and let out a breath. Sharon opened her mouth, but Iola silenced her by raising her hand. Iola pulled out her phone and typed out in minimal words what happened.

Ambush. Me and Fury injured. Don't know where he is. Can't trust anyone.

Sharon read the words slowly, her expression not faltering once as she read the message. Sharon knew something was up within S.H.I.E.L.D but she never raised concerns about it, as she was not a senior member to know the ins and outs of everything.

The building front door slammed shut and footsteps followed. Steve was back.

Iola wasted no time in shoving Sharon into her apartment and shutting the door. Iola moved to lift doors, pretending she was just coming out of the lift. Steve spotted her once he turned from the stairs.

Steve noticed her current state, the blood dripping on the floor, the tats in her hair, the dirt and scrapes on her face. Her eyes flashed with urgency. He moved towards her quickly, opening his mouth to speak, but Sharon's door wiggled to open again. Without second thought Steve opened his apartment door and shoved her inside.

Who in their right mind doesn't lock their apartment door? Especially when working for S.H.I.E.L.D and being a super soldier?!

Iola kept quiet as she listened to the two converse outside the apartment, and she cursed silently when she remembered that Steve doesn't know that Agent Carter exists within S.H.I.E.L.D, but to him, a nurse.
