Avengers Tower
Manhattan, New York
October 2014Iola had grown used to her own company, she had also grown used to the various amount of doctors that would come to assess her.
She hadn't seen Steve, or any of the avengers, for a good while. Not even Tony. She began to miss his sarcasm and blatant arrogance, not liking that she had to settle with her own narcissism.
She didn't understand why the doctors that oversaw her never carried out the physiological evaluation that Steve had talked about. Surely, they could simply send the results to those who needed it?
"You're all hooked up. You ready?"
Doctor Helen Cho's voice broke her from her train of thought. Iola stood in a separate room to where she lived. This was another one of the physical tests that she had been apart of, which began 2 months ago.
"Yep!" Iola called back.
She turned towards the direction of a treadmill that was placed in front of the window. She could see the whole of New York from here.
Helen walked from her station to seal the glass door that Iola was situated behind. Once it was secured, she walked back over to her desk. She pressed down on the button to make her voice heard in the intercom.
"Ok. Step onto the treadmill please."
Iola turned her left wrist over, the holographic watch appearing on her wrist. This monitored her oxygen levels, heartbeat, pace, and how far she travels. There were two small, flat beads that were placed on either side of her temples that read her brain waves. They also helped with making the simulation feel entirely real, Iola being temporarily dissociated with where she currently was. Once they were activated, she would be fully engrossed into the simulation.
She brought her wrist down and stepped onto the treadmill. Once her feet placed onto the artificial path, the window in front brought up all of her stats.
A full body image was placed on the right, which would highlight the areas in which were working the hardest. Directly in front, was a series of complicated statistics, that would be analysed by Helen as she ran.
"Where would you like to run today, Miss Hyde?" Helen's voice echoed overheard, which made Iola shake her head and let out a laugh.
"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Iola?"
She turned her head to look at Helen through the glass, the smirk playing on her lips.
