Avengers Tower
Manhattan, New York
July 2014Natasha, Steve, Bruce, and Tony stood in a glass encased meeting room. Both Natasha and Bruce were sat at the table, the other two males choosing to remain standing. Steve held his now healed wrist across his chest, biting down on his nail on his thumb with the other.
"Well, questions aren't getting us anywhere," Tony announced to the silent room.
Steve shuffled on his feet as the team in front of them racked their brains for a form of answer.
Natasha sat with her elbows on her knees, hunched over in thought. She tried to keep her emotions away from her work, however, with Iola involved, it was proving impossible.
Using Russian always brought back horrible memories of the Red Room, but it seemed to be the only way she was able to get through to the assassin.
To get the answers they wanted, they needed to get through to her but that wasn't going to be easy. She wasn't playing nice on her side.
They had to use her past against her.
"We need to trigger her memories, like Zola did," she finally said, raising her head to look towards Steve.
Realisation settled across Steve's expression. Iola had started to remember some form of past when they made their way to Camp Lehigh. She had discovered that she wasn't the age she thought she was from Zola, collapsing in pain as he spoke.
"How do you propose we do that?" Bruce spoke. He eyed Natasha cautiously. He didn't want to hurt Iola, it wasn't in his nature.
"Something triggered her at Camp Lehigh, she shattered the computer screen with Zola on it," the red head replied.
"Maybe there's something on HYDRA's leaked files," Steve spoke, removing his thumb away from his mouth and placing his hands in his pockets.
Natasha let the idea linger. Whilst Steve and Sam were dealing with the physical side of the launch, she had been undercover with Fury, releasing both all of S.H.I.E.L.D and HYDRA files globally for the general public to see.
It all seemed too easy.
"Jarvis, pull up everything you can on anything containing the words.... what was her fancy assassin name again?" Tony announced, resulting in an eye roll from Natasha.
"The Violetta Voin."
The four stayed silent as JARVIS began pulling up multiple files and images on the glass surrounding them.
Steve would never really get used to the advanced technology of the modern world, but he didn't want to admit he missed the corded phone.
Natasha stood from her seat and started to read. Steve and Bruce did the same. Tony on the other hand, poured himself a coffee.
