Gentle and slow brushes to Patton's face and head woke him peacefully. He rolled to his side smiling to find Janus, gently stroking his curly hair.
"Hey Pat, did I wake you?" Janus's voice was soft yet deep, obviously having woken up not long before Patton himself.
Patton shook his head no and closed his eyes again, enjoying Janus's soft affection.
"Sorry I slept in your bed, when you were on me last night, I didn't have the heart to move you. Its the most peaceful I'd seen you in a while"
"I was on you? Sorry Jan, but I'm glad you stayed" Patton smiles at Janus, looking at him again, but this time there was a different look on his face-maybe even hurt.
"You... You don't remember last night?" Janus's voice all but cracked. "Now I love you..." whispers through his ears once again, now seeming so far away.
"No... Sorry... Did I do something weird?"
Janus removes his hand from Patton's hair, "No, nothing at all" he pulled a tight smile across his face and stared at the wall, obviously thinking.
"Janus..?" Patton became worried he'd done something terrible... What if he'd said something mean?
"I'm going to get you some breakfast, you can have it in bed for a change" Janus gets up and leaves the room before Patton could even say anything in protest, leaving him alone to wonder what had happened.Janus leaned on the counter, he tried to focus on breathing and staying calm but it wasn't going to work. He knew that already.
With a rush of anger he slammed his fists to the counter and almost growled to let out the rising hot feeling he had.
Of course Patton wouldn't rember confessing to him. No. That would be too easy. Too good. There was no happy ever after for the villains, why was he any different?
The anger began to settle again and this time he did calm down. He was over reacting. Patton was tired, even if he did remember, it was most likely to be the sleep talking and he shouldn't hold Patton up to the ramblings of insomnia and stress.
Janus set to work making waffles and tea for two, hoping to join Patton for the day. Yesterday he and Remus got up to some of their old tricks and he doubted it long before someone figured it out.
Infact, just as he got outside Patton's door, he heard the unmistakable cry of Roman.
"REMUSSSSSSS!! JANUSSSS! GET YOUR ASSES HERE!!!" Janus quickly shut Patton's door and grinned
"What was that?" Patton laughs, more humoured then concerned.
"Let's just say, me and Remus made up"
"I'm glad."
Janus put the tray down infront of Patton, "For you, waffles and your favourite tea"
"You're the best Janus" Patton grinned wide enough Janus didn't know if the room had gotten brighter or it was just coincidence.
"I was wondering if I could just hang out with you today. If Roman gets his hands on me..." Janus laughs nervously.
Patton nods, "Of course. You know I love being with you"
Janus's chest tightens... "now I love you" echoed like a haunting ghost once more.
"You don't have to, I know we spend a lot of time together. Actually, you know, it might be better for me to just face Roman. Take responsibility for my actions and everything-" Patton rests a hand on Janus's arm, his eyes scanning with a look of concern that hurt Janus further.
" Janus, if this is about the kiss... We can forget it ever happened"
As if the pain couldn't get any worse, it doubles hearing those words. Patton regretted everything, didn't he? Why would someone so good ever want to be with someone so evil? He never had a chance. He wasn't good enough for Patton.
"If that's what you want..." tears pricked the corners of Janus's eyes. He shouldn't cry. He couldn't. Not now. Not infront of Patton.
"Janus..." Patton moved the tray out of the way, sitting directly infront of Janus. He cups his face, slowly rubbing his thumb across Janus's scales, who leans into the touch.
Patton leans in slowly and gently places a kiss on Janus's lips, "It's the last thing I want. I just want to know, if not that, what has gotten you so upset. I worry about you. It hurts to see you hurt" Patton held Janus face gently, trying to read it for some kind of sign what to do next.
Janus couldn't help it, he collapsed into Patton, holding him and crying.
"Why do you have to make all this so sweet, I'm sort of having a break down" Janus laughs between tears.
Patton hold him, "Because I care deeply about you."
"I hate you..." Janus grumbles.
"If that's the case, no more kisses" Patton taunts playfully.
Janus rested his head on Patton's shoulder so he couldn't see his tear stained face. "Maybe I don't want kisses..." He jokes back, the crushing feelings seeming less painful.
"Shame, and I was in the mood to shower someone in physical affection."
"I'd just /hate/ for you to do that..." Janus says, pulling away to look him in the eyes.
"I'd just" hate" to do it then" Patton smiled, the word hate causing a familiar gold glow to Patton's lips as a result of the lie.
Patton slowly pulled Janus to lay down, spooning him from behind and pressing small kisses to his cheek and neck, tracing lines on his body.
He was gentle, light, comforting. Each contact made Janus feel a warm glow in his chest. Wanting to be as close as they could. To feel Patton all over him. Not in a sexual way either. He wanted sweet innocent love.
And Patton was more then happy to provide.A/N
