Breathing had never felt so difficult to Janus. Every intake of breath was laboured and every exhale was painful. He didn't know what was happening around him. He could hear words being said and someone holding him...
"It's okay Janus... I've got you" someone whispers in his ear, and he believes them instantly.
"Patton..." the words left his lips before he actually registered what that meant.
The arms around him grew tighter slightly, it was him. But why? Didn't he still think that he had cheated?
The argument came back to him. He'd fought with Virgil and things had gotten loud. They had most likely disturbed the entire mindscape...
Janus finally felt as though he had the strength to lift he head and survey his surroundings.
Sure enough, Patton was on the floor with him, holding him and running his hand up and down his back but glaring with his frog eyes at Virgil and Roman.
"Patton, Dad, please understand! I just... He's-"
"If you say evil again, I'm leaving." Patton cuts Virgil off.
"How is that fair? You guys used to think I was evil!"
"No, we used to worry you could negatively affect Thomas. Then we found all the good you do for him and accepted you the way you are. You were never evil."
"My brother is..." Roman grumbles.
"Hey, he's just... Not like us. But no one here is evil. You know why?"
"Why?" the two ask.
"Because Thomas is a good person, so we are all good people."
"But I needed to protect-"
"Virgil, I know it's your job to worry. I know it's your job to protect Thomas. However," Patton's voice was gentle, not mad, "I am my own person. If I make mistakes then so be it. But right now, me and Janus really like each other. We're happy together- or we were. I understand your intentions, but you need to apologise to us."
Patton helps Janus up, he was more lucid now.
"Even you?" Virgil asks, his voice quiet.
"Oh Kiddo... I know you didn't mean to, not really, but you hurt me to. When you're ready, you know where to find us.

As soon as Patton's door shut, he burst into tears; letting go of everything he had held in as Virgil confessed everything to him.
"Janus, I am so sorry. I was starting to realise what happened wasn't really what had happened but I still believed it in the first place and even Logan pointed out and I'm sorry Janus."
"Patton, you have nothing to apologise for. With what you saw, your reaction was normal. I actually have something to confess. When you ran into Logan... That was me.... I panicked seeing you and I didn't know what to do. I missed you so much and well. I'm sorry I deceived you. "
Patton blew is noes, crying was never a pretty look but he still seamed to be the most beautiful man in the world to Janus.
"I missed you too..."
"Logan actually caught me too" Janus laughed nervously, "I apologised a lot but he didn't care much, as long as I don't do it again."
"I think he just wants everything to go back to normal."
"I think everyone does. But, normal has become something no one can agree on..."
"Then," Patton smiles, "We make a new normal. Things change. We all need to accept that."
Janus nods, "So... Things are going to change with us too?" he asks without really wanting the answer.
"Even us."
Did that mean that they were over forever? Janus knew this whole ordeal was a nightmare and a half, but he hoped they could sort things out. Apparently Patton had other ideas.
"I think we should start acting more like a family, but together. Like, if they see us both as their loving parents, it would help them to accept things. Us." Patton suggests.
Janus takes a deep breath, "I /hadn't/ thought you were about to actually end things between us" he laughs, more out of nerves.
Patton's arms pull Janus into a hug once again, "Sorry, but you don't get rid of me that easily."
Together, they stay there for some while. Holding each other in their arms like they'd longed to for some time. They were finally back where they wanted to be.
"Janus, I love you. I really do." Patton mutters into his boyfriend's chest.
Janus placed a kiss on top of Patton's curls, "I love you too. I /hate/ you so much that one day, I'm going to marry you."
Patton laughs, pulling away, "Marry me?"
Janus nods, "Logan /isn't/ ordained."
"How did-"
Janus presses a gloved finger to Patton's lips, "don't ask, I didn't. He was drunk."
Patton let out a little gasp, "Logan was drunk?"
"Yep."
Patton laughs, it wasn't something you heard every day. At the back of his mind, he kept thinking; one day Janus wants to marry me...

Virgil sulked on his bed, Roman sat awkwardly next to him, chewing at his fingernails.
"It could be worse. We could have been banished to the darksides."
"I would have, not you. You're important."
"You're important too Virgil. Probably more important than me. You keep Thomas safe."
"I also fuck things up."
Roman rolled his eyes, getting up, "You, mister doom and gloom are bathing in self pity. It's not good for your completion. Come with me." He holds out his hand which Virgil takes cautiously.
"What are we doing?"
"The best thing we can do; create something wonderful."
They head off the the imagination together. A good creation always made Roman feel better. He just wanted his friend to smile. If that took building him his own comfort castle-like Logan's Tree House- so be it.
