Moving on

The next morning Patton woke up, Janus's arms around him. He didn't want to move. He felt warm and safe. Patton watched with a smile on his face as Janus slept on. It was a fond sight.

After sometime, Janus had woken up to and they had both gone to the kitchen for breakfast. Janus even made Patton a super sweet coffee again. He'd pay for it later, but worth it to see Patton's face light up.

Sometime later, while everyone was eating breakfast, Remus and Logan stood in front of everyone, holding hands. The both looked nervous. Looking between each other as if they have some secret to tell.

"Salutions everyone, Remus and I have an announcement." Logan says, a little loud so everyone would hear.
They all turned, looking at them confused.
"Logan and I... We're... Together... Like a couple." Remus says, almost breathless from nervous.
No one speaks for a solid five seconds.
"Wow Logan, your standards are low." Roman being the first to speak, but he was smiling. He'd seen into his brother's mind and seen the amount of love Remus had for Logan. He was happy for them.
Patton smiled, but sad, heartbroken eyes betrayed him. Patton had known Logan wasn't his now, but it still hurt so much. He sort of hoped one day he and Logan would be a thing. But, there were different plans for the heart evidently.
Janus was by Patton's side in seconds, not saying anything to the couple but inside being happy there was now not even a chance Logan and Patton could become an item. His selfish intentions also accompanied by genuine happiness and excitement for his best friend.

Janus put a hand on Patton's back, comforting him. He could tell that Patton hadn't taken the news well, which hurt a little. Knowing his own feelings for Patton were not returned.

Janus spent all of yesterday trying his best to make Patton happy and relaxed and he knew this was all thrown away now. But, aside from that he felt his own guilt festering. He was at fault for upsetting Logan before hand and Logan had avoided him since then. Never getting his wanted wish of apologizing.
He had used his friend, abusing Remus's feelings for him to try and hurt Logan. That's where his biggest regret lay.

Janus made up his mind, he would apologise today.

"I am happy for them... I want them to be happy but... It hurts..."
Janus nods along, Patton sat holding a cushion and talking about the news they'd received that day.
"I wish I could stop feeling this way. Logan was always supportive of everything I ever did. Even before you guys. He was the one who'd hold me when I messed up and hold out a hand when I fell down. I always had this idea that it would be him and I. Not... Him and someone better then me... "
Janus places a hand on Patton's shoulder at this," Hey, never say that. Trust me, Remus is great and all, but he's not better then you."
"I locked Logan in a tower for Thomas's sake!" tears were welling up in his eyes now.
Janus hesitated, "I once wanted nothing else in the world then to just be a rebound for my crush."
Patton snivled, "Really? They must be pretty great..."
"Yeah, he is."
"But, I still have you beat" Patton grinned a little.
"Yeah, that you do crazy man" Janus laughs, Patton joining him and wiping away his tears and snotty noes in a tissue.
"You're pretty great Janus."
"Thanks, you're the greatest though" he gives Patton a smile.
Patton looks down, biting his lip and then back up at Janus. "Could you... Could you do something for me..?"
"Of course, anything."
"Could you shapeshift into Logan..?"
Janus blinked at Patton. Was he, as himself, not enough..? Did Patton want to play pretend as Logan's boyfriend as he couldn't get the real one?
"it's not anything bad! Or atleast I don't think... It's just... Logan never officially rejected me. I need him to. Otherwise, these... These feelings will aways have something to clinge to."
Janus nodded slowly, now understanding.
"Yeah Pat, I can do that"
Janus's body began to glow yellow until nothing could be seen of him at all, then, that light began to morph into the familiar outline of Logan.
"How's this?" he asks.
Patton nods, already looking upset.
Janus took a second with his eyes shut to get into character and then nodded to Patton to begin.
"Logan. I have feelings for you. I love you. I have wanted to be with you every second of everyday since we met. I know you are with Remus, but maybe there is even the smallest chance, you want to be with me?"
Everything in Janus's body ached, he didn't want to do this. But, he also wished those words were for him. He'd say yes in less then a heartbeat.
"Patton. I'm afraid I can not accept nor return you feelings. You are and have always been special, but I implore you to share that with someone else. I'm sorry."
Patton nods, tears now running down his face. He turns away and Janus shifts once more into himself.
"Patton..." He starts, but Patton cuts him off. He throws his arms around Janus, hugging him, sobbing gently. "Thanks..." He mutters into Janus's chest.
Janus returns the hug, resting his head onto of Patton's. "Anything for you..."
They stayed like that until Patton fell asleep. Janus tucked him into bed and left the room, dispite all he wanting to do was stay and hold Patton.
He had something more important to do. He needed to make up with his friend and apologise.
Just as he leaves Patton's room, he sees Remus, and he was alone.
