Chapter Twenty Four

Rae's POV

It's been about four months since we split up. Although it was so hard, I was now finally starting to get over him, or at least trying to. It's incredibly hard when you work with him. I was starting to get to know other guys but no one even compared and that is what I was finding the hardest.

"You busy tonight?" Virgil asks as Im setting up a drill.
"Yeah... I'm going on a date."
"Oh really?! What restaurant-"
"No, you're not doing what I think you're going to suggest."
"You're like my little sister though-"
"Stop being a mother hen. I will text you when I get home, okay?"
"Fine. But call me if you need an escape route. I can't be convincing."
"Deal."

Having got ready for the date, he picked me up and took me to a nice restaurant. His names Ryan and he honestly is really lovely and we have so much in common. Maybe this is who I can genuinely move on with.

"So what do you do for a living?" He asks, taking a sip of the water he was drinking.
"I coach for Liverpool." I smile. "You?"
"Liverpool football?" He asks. "That's awesome. I'm just a personal trainer."
"Still a great job."
"I know but not as cool as that."
"It's hard sometimes because it requires a lot of my attention and a lot of people don't understand that."

He dropped me off and I text Virgil to let him know I'd gotten home. I don't really have many female friends and I had nobody to talk to.
I crawled into bed with Marley, hoping I'd found someone who actually cared and wouldn't hurt me like he had.

I came into training next morning. I started to do a few reports and then worked on my launch of my clothing company until I had to start training. I was tired beyond belief but I was trying to make something of myself and it was properly working.

"Who is it?" I ask to the knock at my office door.
"Your favourite brother."
"Come in asshat."
"I'll think you will find my name is Jordan.."
"Obviously. What have you come to irritate me about?"
"So... don't be mad."
"That means I'm going to be."
"Probably. Virg only told me out of concern-
"Fucking awesome. So you tell someone something who you thought you could trust.."
"Rae it's not like that and you know it."
"I asked him not to tell anyone. Specifically not you."
"Why not?"
"Because you're my brother and you over react."
"We just want to make sure you're making the right decision and you're actually happy moving on, because I don't think you are."
"Who the fuck do you think you are getting involved in my personal life? If I want to move on, I will. I don't need permission off anyone, especially you."
"We know deep down you still love him. Getting a cover up isn't going to fix that."
"Why do people think they can just get involved and interfere?"
"Because we care!"
"It doesn't matter because the bottom of the line is this. I trust someone with something and they go behind my back and tell the one person i didn't want to know."
"Rae, listen to me. If you're truly happy with whoever it is, I'll fully support you. You know i will and so will the boys. But look me in the eyes and tell me the truth."
"Fuck you." I mumbled and leave.
"Exactly."

Having to work with not only your ex boyfriend and now two people you'd fallen out with is quite honestly the most awkward thing on the planet.
"Rae-" Virgil tries to start talking to me.
"Leave me alone."
"I did it because I'm worried about you."
"I'm not speaking to either of you so leave it the fuck out. I'm trying to remain as professional as possible."

Two months later
___

I get home and Ryan wants to meet so I head to his house and we hang out for hours, before coming to the subject of what had been going on at training and privately. He'd asked me to be his girlfriend and we were actually happy.

"You know, if they want to interfere let them. We know how we feel."
"Exactly."
"You know how important you are to me. You should stay with me, fuck them."
"I will." I smile at him.

He helped me move some of my stuff over.
"You know they're treating you like shit because they're jealous right?"
"Yeah." I smile and he nods.
"I'd never do anything like that."
