Rae's POV
Dragging myself out of bed for training, I knew I was in for a strange day. This would be the first time I've seen the boys since the meal they went for, with Trents new partner. I was trying to dodge him as much as possible, but he was proving to make that difficult.
I shower, tie my hair up in a high bun, put on some light make up and change into my Liverpool gear. I choose my white Adidas trainers before heading into the kitchen to feed Marley. I was picking Jordan up the morning, so I headed off.
"Hey." I smiled at him as he got in.
"Hi. What happened the other day?" He asks.
"What you mean?" I reply, starting to drive.
"The lunch. You went home because you were 'ill'" making the quotations around the word ill, left me knowing he was on my tail about the real truth. "What's the real reason?"
"I was ill."
"You were not Rae, don't lie to me." The incessant streak in Jordan was the worst.
"Can you leave it out?"
"No! Has one of them upset you-"
"Kind of but it's not his fault."
"Who?"
"I'm not telling you."
"Why not?" He groans, frustrated.
"You'll lose your shit."
"Only if I need to."I shake my head as we pull into training and show our ID cards. I head quickly into my office to finish off some work for training. There's a knock.
"So, Rae. Have you spoken to him?" Virg says, sitting in front of my desk.
"No and I don't plan on it." I reply, pressing print on my computer.
"I don't like seeing you hurt Rae. I know he's not happy either."
"Well Virj I'm hardly on par with her at all. She's a model for fucks sake." I groan, putting my glasses on the top of my head, only needing them for reading.~ Third Person ~
Hearing 'I'm hardly on par with her at all. She's a model for fucks sake' Trent knew he'd fucked up. Deep down he knew Rae was perfect. He knew what he had to do after training, no matter how hard it was for either party.
Rae's POV
We finished training and we decided to go watch Liverpool's women in a friendly. I stood inbetween Virg and Jordan and watched them start to warm up. A small gathering of Liverpool fans had gathered, to support them.
Their coach walks up and down the sidelines, scanning the crowd. He spots the players and makes his way over to them."Hey boys." He greets, shaking hands with a few of them. "Do you know any girls that would pull a kit on right now? I've only got one on the bench and she's injured herself. I'm desperate and got clearance to try and draft someone." He explains and Jordan looks at me.
"No." I replied, feeling nervous. Not yet.
"Rae, please. I'm begging you, we're desperate."
"I haven't got my boots... I haven't got the stuff for my knee-"
"We'll do anything for you. We've got boots in all sizes.."
"What about kit?.." They won't have my size, I'm huge..
"We've got all sizes. You can play wherever you want."
"Fine."I head into their changing rooms and surprisingly, he wasn't joking. They had kit to fit me, they had boots. Pulling on the right sizes, I walk over to him and has a support for my knee.
"Thank you for this Rae. You've no idea how much I appreciate it."I warm up and stretch for a few minutes before pulling on a sub coat. However, it's not needed as minutes later, I'm called upon to go on.
"Right wing?" He asks.
"I'll play wherever."Shakily, the ball is at my feet and I take off running. I nutmeg three players before taking a shot at thirty yards out and it hits the cross bar. It bounces high, but gets headed in by the striker. Taking us to 1-0, we kick back off. The second goal comes ten minutes later, when I'm running, I take a through ball and I'm one on one with the keeper. I chip it over the keeper and it slots nicely into the back of the net. We sit nicely at 2-0 before half time.
After a quick half time talk, we kick off. I've been moved into midfield, but attacking. I'm taken down, by one of their defenders. We're awarded a free kick, not too far from where I shot for the first goal. They tell me to take it. Taking a deep breath, I hit it as hard as I can. It soars through the air and straight into the top corner, the keeper had no chance. 3-0. The coach then asks me to fill in at centre back. I've not played it for YEARS. I clear a few balls and make some tackles, before making a break. We pass the ball practically through the whole squad as it gets up the feel, but unfortunately it goes out for a corner - my specialty. I somehow always managed to head them in and today was no different. 4-0. We score again and at 5-0, I didn't think at 80 minutes we'd score again. But as I took a break, I passed and then received the ball. Cutting back inside, I shoot, from 30 yards out and it slots into the net. 6-0. As if the day then could not get any stranger, I'm now in goal. I make quite a few saves, a few that I nearly missed. The ref finally blows the whistle.
I shower, change back into my Liverpool gear and go to head out.
"Thanks again. You were absolutely awesome." The coach, who I now know as Liam tells me.
"Thanks Liam." I smile. "I enjoyed it. Thanks for having me."
"We're having food and drinks in the club if you want to join, you're more than welcome."
"Thanks, but I've got to head off. I'll see you around." I smile and head back to the boys."Who knew we had a starlet on our hands?" Mo asks as I walk over to them.
"Shut up." I mumbled, laughing, but also hiding embarrassment. Was he just being nice?
"Rae, you were amazing kid." Virgil tells me, patting me on the head.
"Those saves alone should have earned you a contract." Alisson adds and I raise my eyebrows.
"Yeah right." I laugh. "Thanks boys."We disperse and I drop Jordan off at home. I head in the house and as always, I'm greeted by Marley. I give him a treat before we sit watching the new series of Afterlife. I pause the show, hearing a knock on the front door. Trent.
"Hi.." I say as I open the door.
"Rae, first of all, I want to apologise."
"What for? Do you wanna come in?" I ask moving aside.
"For not realising how much I like you, a lot sooner than I have."
