There was something weird about coming home to the academy, and that was calling the academy home in the first place. It was a place of fuckery and not one of the Hargreeves that stumbled inside could ever forget the horrors it donned when they were growing up. It had been a long night for most of them, a lot longer for one though, but it would be a bit before any one of the others would notice. Five on the other hand just savored the solace and the good clean-up he desperately needed after his night of drinking. He left his room and approached Ellie's, opening the door to see the girl staring at herself on the vanity. Her eyes weren't blank though, she had tears in them, some sort of guilt plaguing her, and he knew exactly why.
"I'm sorry Five. I just had to save her..." She spoke up, now looking at him through the mirror while playing with the hair that laid on her shoulder. He sighed, knowing he didn't have the heart to actually reprimand her, he walked behind her and wrapped her in his arms, kissing her forehead in the process.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked her keeping his hold on her, he heard her breath shakily. Waiting for any kind of response.
"Diego just felt so bad, it almost felt like it was you dying on the floor. And..." she began to sob, tears streaming down her cheeks as she recalled the events a few hours ago, how Diego cried with the mere thought of Eudora hurt let alone dying and how her thoughts drifted to her husband, and if he was in Eudora's place she would do anything to save him, even let the nightmares haunt her again.
"I just had to. I'm sorry Five."
"Shhh... it's okay babe. Shhhh, I'm right here and I'm not leaving. I'm fine." She clung to him tightly for a few seconds before pulling away to look him in the eyes, and then smash their lips together. Five pulled her closer and into his lap, smiling into the kiss before pulling away from it himself. "if we go any longer, we're not leaving this room, and quite frankly my love, I'd love for that to happen but we have a deadline so..."
Ellie rolled her eyes and chuckled, pecking his lips one last time before walking outside the room Five in tow. As she stepped foot on the hall she saw a trail of blood from the bathroom and into Klaus's open room. The couple looked at each other before knocking on the door, catching the man's attention.
"You okay Klaus?" Ellie began, peeking inside to see that he was changing.
"Oh, hey Pixie... yeah just a long night." He answered quietly as Five observed him.
"More than one from the looks of it. Don't remember the dog tags."
"Yeah, they belonged to a friend." Klaus said placing the shirt over his body, the cloth making the dog tags make a jingling noise.
"How about that new tattoo?" Five quizzed still looking at the ink on the older man's arm.
"You know what, I don't totally even remember getting it. Like I said, it's been a long night."
"You did it, didn't you?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You know, I can recognize the symptoms, Klaus. Five said, pulling himself and Ellie further into the room, while Klaus gave both of them a confused look. "The jet lag. Full body itch. Headache that feels like someone shoved a box of cotton up into your nose and through your brain. You gonna tell us about it?" He finished, still looking at his brother while Ellie sit beside his sickly form.
"Your pals, when they broke into the house and they couldn't find you, they took me hostage instead." Klaus began with a melancholic tone, making Ellie hold his hand, to which the man clutched onto for dear life.
