A big part of Five Hargreeves charm was that determined look on his face that just hardened his features to make him look like a chiseled god, that look on his face and in his eyes is definitely a sight to see and you were on the receiving end of the rage that came with it, be scared, be absolutely scared. The determination remained on his face as he paced in the room, in his haphazardly thrown on uniform.
"Five, you're giving me whiplash." Ellie complained to him as she stood up and stopped him in his tracks. Five looked to his wife, his eyes on hers, their green orbs stuck on each other. Ellie was the one to break the contact, as her eyes travelled down to his exposed chest, her hand going up to button the top ones. "You need to get a grip Five, or you'll dent the floor." She told him, pulling up his collar to thread the tie through it. This made the boy sigh out loud focusing on the slight tickle on his neck as she knotted the tie properly. When she finished the task, she returned her gaze and kissed his nose sweetly, followed by a smile that could only make Five's heart flutter.
"Thanks Elle..." He said, his voice still laced with anxiety, but nevertheless took her hand and pulled her towards the door, and into Klaus's room. There they saw the man on his bed, wrestling with some yarn and a few needles. Ellie chuckled at the sight of Klaus, getting frustrated with the thing. "Get up! We need to go." The boy told his brother, his eyes now wild, one of the many hints that exhibited the adrenaline pumping in his veins.
"Where?" The man then asked, the giant needles still clutched in his hands.
"To save the world." Five answered nonchalantly.
"Oh is that all? That's great." Klaus replied almost sounding a little relieved, now sitting up to listen to the rest of Five's monologue.
"So Pogo said dad killed himself to get us all back together, right? So it got me thinking. I had to jump to the future to figure out when that happened, but Dad, he can't time travel. So how'd the crazy bastard actually know to kill himself a week before the world ends? Don't answer that, that's purely rhetorical." He butted in before finishing, just as Klaus was about to answer. "truth is our whole lives, he's been telling us we'd save the world from an impending apocalypse." Ellie found herself nodding in agreement to what her husband just said, ultimately wondering how far Reginald's suspicious genius ran.
"I always thought he only said that to get us to do the dishes." Klaus justified.
"Me too, but what if the old man really knew it was going to happen? Elle, anything?" Five pondered, desperately piecing things together.
"The man was a brick wall love, there was no way I could have ever peeked into his mind." Ellie said offering him a small smile. Five looked disappointed but the gears in his head continued to turn.
"She's got a point, plus, how would he have known?"
"No Idea, but the fact remains, his fakakta plan worked. We all came home. Since we're here we might as well save the world"
"Oh yeah? Like the three of us?" said Klaus teasingly as he matched the same look of adventure in his brother's eyes.
"Uh well, Ellie's definitely with me no matter what, so..." the boy trailed of looking at Klaus up and down. "Ideally, no, but we've gotta work with what we got." The boy explained, leading his wife and brother out the door only to be met by Diego, who they haven't seen lately, right now though the batman wannabe looked like he had just ran a marathon, with his breath erratic and sweat beading down his face.
"Where have you been?" Five asked the man who was about to turn the corner to his room.
"Jail." Diego answered as if it were the most normal thing in the world, making the trio look at each other questioningly. "Long story, where's Luther?"
"Haven't seen him since breakfast." Yeah, two days before the world ends and he decides to drop off the grid." Ellie and Klaus answered, peeking inside to see Diego gathering as many knives as he could and then strapping his usual vest onto his chest.
"Shit." he then muttered after hearing their answers, clamping one more strap before facing his siblings and sister-in-law. "Allison's in danger." With that said, the Hargreeves rushed to the car, set in finding Luther, before searching for Allison. The pressure in the air could only get thicker as Diego explained the entire situation, their breath hitching from all the possibilities that they could come across and so finding Luther was that much more essential.
After a few futile attempts at finding the big man, Klaus pointed out a sorry looking bar in the corner. And lo and behold there he was, Number One in all his dull glory inside the gloomy place, nursing a pint of beer. The Hargreeves walked towards him, each of them ready to scold him until they noticed the look on his face. "Leave me alone guys." he told them, his distraught expression turning into a scowl as he saw the familiar faces.
"Give us a minute." Diego said waving off his brothers and Ellie, his actions making the two boys look at him in utter confusion.
"What do you mean? Ellie should be in that chair, I mean have you forgotten? Head of hair filled with mood altering flowers and not to mention she is much more amiable than you are Kylo Ren." Klaus told Diego with his hands on his hips. But Ellie chuckled at them, pushing both Klaus and Five to another direction to leave Diego and Luther alone. "Thanks Elle." Diego told the girl.
"No problem Bruce Wayne, just don't brood each other to death." Ellie told him just before they were out of earshot. The trio now stood close enough to see the two, but far away enough to not hear the entire interaction. Klaus and Five kept their eyes on their brothers, just in case Diego screwed it all up, Ellie on the other hand had way more faith on the spandex-clad man, knowing fully what he was about to pull, and that Luther wouldn't be able to shrug off the bait.
The men beside her continued to gesture worriedly at each other and then towards their brothers, the same look on their faces. "Stop it guys, have a little faith on Diego. Luther will bite I promise." She told them, trying to ease the overwhelming anxiety they were exuding. Not two minutes later the three of them heard Luther's voice boom from their direction, followed by a scraping of a chair.
"You should have led with that!" The big man argued, harshly walking out and leaving Diego at the table. Luther bolted for the front door in a haze, even ripping of the door off its hinges as he exited the pub. And so the wild goose chase begins, and the countdown continues, the apocalypse awaits and the umbrella academy is yet to be complete.
The sun retreated and night began to fall on the assembled Hargreeves as they drove through the forest to save their sister. Each one of them had a certain amount of dread growing in their bellies, a side effect of the uncertainty. Silence enveloped the car that they were in, all of them trying to hide how scared they were at finding out what was about to happen. Five squeezed Ellie's hand as he drove, Klaus fiddled with his lips, Diego stared into the nothingness and Luther, well Luther was Luther. He fidgeted in his seat, worsening the already suffocating amount of emotions that enveloped them.
"Hey can you go any faster?" He asked Five leaning over his shoulder, causing the boy to let go of his wife's hand to swat his brother away.
"Ask me again and I'll burn you with a cigarette lighter." Five answered unimpressed with Luther's show of immaturity. But Luther was relentless, looking to Ellie for some back-up but he was only met with the girl rolling her eyes at him.
"Don't look at me like that Luther, you know he'll do it, and if he doesn't I will." This made Luther finally give up and seat back down on his seat, as they whizzed through the dirt road. The thought both of their sisters consuming their minds once again.
