Ever since Zoe had proposed that Alex might like Kata as more than a friend two days ago, that was all Alex was able to think about. It was just Kata, Kata, Kata. She was always in Alex's head. Though Alex had started realizing that Kata had always been in the back of her mind before Zoe said anything, now she was just in the forefront of everything.

Except, in reality, Alex hadn't really seen all that much of her friend since Zoe's "proposition" that she maybe had a crush on her.

Alex wasn't necessarily trying to avoid Kata, she just found herself blushing like a maniac every time she saw her and that would make her nervous so she would just casually sprint to the nearest bathroom and hide because she was awkward as hell.

As much as she didn't want to admit it she was pretty sure she completely understood gay panic now.

The more Alex thought about it, the more everything Zoe had said to her started making sense. The fact that she wanted to be close to Kata all the time, all the butterflies in her stomach whenever Kata was around, the red cheeks, the constant ability to notice everything amazing about Kata. It would make perfect sense if Alex had a crush on her friend. But that was the thing. Alex couldn't have a crush on Kata.

She wasn't gay.

"Hey there!" Kata said, coming up to Alex, shaking her out of her thoughts. Alex was sitting on the makeshift stage in the theatre room, waiting for school to start and also at the ready for Mr. Benj in case he needed anything. Kata sat down next to Alex and nudged her with her shoulder. Alex tried to will away the blush that was threatening to creep up her cheeks. "I haven't seen much of you the past couple of days, is everything okay?" Alex forced herself to look at her friend.

Kata was looking at her sweetly with concern lining her facial features. Alex couldn't help but smile, because that was what Kata did to her, and suddenly all the wanting to "totally not avoid Kata but still run away every time she saw her" disappeared and all Alex wanted to do was spend every minute she could with the wonderful girl sitting next to her.

"Yeah, everything's okay," Alex said to Kata with a smile. Kata returned the smile and Alex knew she was no longer hiding the redness of her cheeks.

"So you ready for the performance tonight?" Kata asked excitedly. Alex laughed in spite of herself.

"Not at all," she replied, still laughing. "But then again, I don't know that I ever will be." Kata nodded, laughing a little herself.

"I get that," she said. She looked over at Alex with care overflowing from her eyes, and Alex felt her heart speed up inside her chest. "You're going to do amazing," Kata said softly, searching Alex's eyes. Alex smiled and looked down, extremely aware of her warm glowing cheeks.

"I hope you're right."

A/N: Sorry for the super short chapter!! Everything I write I write with intention, but it has come to my attention that the beginning of my story is still much too long to interest readers so once I finish writing everything I'm going to make some MAJOR edits.

Thank you so much for reading this chapter, it means the world to me! If you liked it, please consider leaving a vote/comment!

With love,
