Chapter twelve.

[Leah gets a panic attack again]

"Many would say that

overthinking is bad,

but what's bad about

knowing all outcomes of a situation?"

To answer your question, yes, Leah spoke French. What about it? Sure, her mom was Russian, but she also cared about Leah's well being to know that the American school system sucked (even if she taught in it) and taught her French. Now back to the current situation.

Leah was upset. No, she was pissed. She couldn't believe that these Earthborn had the nerve to attack Piper. So she shot some in the head. Sadly there were more than she could shoot, so she kept her bullets for the wolves, and chose the natural way of things; choking.

It was quite easy as the Earthborn were stupid and didn't know where the bullets or the vines were coming from, but then the snow was killing the plants. Luckily Leah had Leo at her side. Khione seemed, once Leah had showed herself, to immediately try to kill her, sending ice shards towards her face. Leah had noticed and was about to side-step the ice 'daggers', but Leo had saved her face with a wall of fire from looking like a cheap reverse Zuko or Todoroki. How would that work, scarring with frostbite? Leah shook her head, now was not the time to think about how ice scars would form. It was the time to escape getting the scars in the first place.

Once Khione realized that she couldn't kill Leah because Leo was protecting her (I'm a bad bitch, you can't kill me, Leah thought), Khione sent the Earthborn after her. And that's where they were now. Leah and Piper were fighting off the Earthborn and the wolves, Jason the spirits and some of the wolves, and Leo was fighting (and almost beating) the snow goddess, Khione.

"Do you want a gun?" Leah shouted over to Piper. The girl blinked, stabbing an Earthborn in the leg, before shaking her head. "Nah," she shouted in return, "the magazine would be finished before I hit one monster!" She laughed after she said that. Leah just grinned at her and raised more vines. She formed a fist with her right hand, and an Earthborn exploded from being squeezed, mud splattering Leah.

Leah looked over at Jason, seeing that he had befriended a wind spirit. He was on horseback, plowing through other spirits as they disappeared into the wind. Leah shot a wolf that had come too close for her liking, then turned to help Piper out, as Jason seemed to be working through the spirits. Piper also seemed to be holding her own, but Leah still decided to help her out, after casting a quick glance to Leo and seeing that he basically had the snow goddess cornered. 'A lady should know how to fight, but shouldn't have to,' she thought to herself as she shot an Earthborn. Piper was charmspeaking the Earthborn heavily, and held a look of surprise that Leah wasn't affected at all.

Leah raised an eyebrow. "Did you think I would just sit here in a daze, admiring you? No way," Leah said. But then her eyes widened as she remembered Bee. She straightened her back from hitting a wolf with the blunt of her gun, and ran over to the little cave she had placed Bee in.

Leah knelt down, stretching her arms out to the little wolf. It - Bee - looked up at her in wonder, their eyes big. Leah sighed to herself; since when did she randomly adopt wild animals? Then she thought back to Peggy, her ex-pet, and a small smile appeared on her face.

Bee cautiously limped over to her and climbed into her arms, whining quietly at the pain in their paw. Leah shushed them, carrying them over to a bewildered Piper who had by now killed all the Earthborn. Lee handed Bee over, before she shot another wolf in the head with one of her last bullets.
