Chapter four.
[the Pretty Boy® arrives]
" "
Leah liked the plane a bit too much for her own taste. Yes, the air was musty, and yes, there was no leg room which the demigod didn't like as her legs were quite long, but there were some pros. She got peanuts from the stewardess, the dinner wasn't that bad, and she ended up watching the first season of Big Bang Theory. She hadn't ever watched it before, and she was genuinely disappointed when the plane started to lower. Another thing that she loved that for almost a whole day, it was quiet. No trees, no grass, no flowers, nothing. It was quite soothing, and Leah thought she might just get on a plane again just for that.
Once the plane had landed, Leah had immediately gotten off the plane as fast as she could. The people were beginning to crowd onto her, and it felt a tad too much like being crowded by the Earthborn or the dracaenae.
She didn't have a lot with her, everything packed within a single backpack, so she didn't need to waste time on picking up any extra luggage. Leah walked briskly past the people who did, not casting a glance to anyone. She thought over what she had to look for; a square jaw, way too tall (6'3), brown hair with a bit of a beard, and a black hoodie with sweatpants. Honestly, Leah had no idea why they didn't talk. He sounded exactly like her.
She hastily showed her passport when it was required and flashed a tired, non-enthusiastic smile before she continued her way through the airport, walking fast. She thought about purchasing a coffee to keep herself awake, but she decided against it, for no other reason than that she was going to attempt to crash as soon as she and Matthew had gotten to his apartment. She didn't want the coffee to be another factor that would keep her awake.
To be honest, Leah didn't think anything could stop her from sleeping tonight; she had had about two hours of sleep on the plane, and before that she didn't exactly have a healthy sleeping schedule either.
She was snapped out of her thoughts by the pole that she bumped into. She reeled backwards, her eyes widening. She blinked a few times in confusion before shrugging and continuing to the exit.
As she stepped out of the self-activating doors, she scanned the people for her uncle. She then spotted someone who was carrying a cardboard sign, on which it said something that made Leah chuckle: "the superhuman niece". He wasn't wrong, which made Leah fluttery inside. Would normal mortals like to be in her position? She sighed to herself as she stepped forward to who she assumed was Matthew.
"You're Matthew, am I right?" she asked him, a drowsy yet skeptical look on her face. The man in question chuckled as he threw his head back. It took him a few moments to calm down, and when he did there was still a wide grin on his face.
Leah really despised his overwhelming positivity.
Matthew was as he said, really tall. Leah didn't like that she had to look up at him, any more than she liked his personality until now. Her eyebrows furrowed. "Relax," Matthew said. "Just because we seem different doesn't mean you won't like me. Now come on." He nodded his head towards the airport exit. Leah quietly agreed with that they needed to leave; she didn't want to be attacked again.
They walked side to side to Matthew's car, a grey Citroën, Leah wasn't sure what model. She got into the passenger's seat that her uncle so graciously had opened for her. She started drumming her fingers onto the car hood, her knee bouncing. The silence was quite long and awkward. At least, that was what Leah thought. Matthew turned on the radio, I gotta feeling's chorus playing. Leah stayed quiet, as the man next to her hummed happily to the tune. The demigod wondered how he had so much enthusiasm in him at five in the morning.
