Chapter one.

"Sane people are just the ones

who the people in power

relate to the most."

Leah never thought she would say this, but she was kind of enjoying Camp Half-Blood. Maybe it was the fact that she was being acknowledged, or that she had actual friends, but it was nice. She started showing up to classes after a while, where she felt uncomfortable at first, but she soon started to ease up around her fellow demigods.

Leah still found the other Demeter kids utter pacifists, but she did pick up on the fact that they were very passionate and would defend their passions with their life without a second thought. Leah liked that side of them.

Most of the time Leah was in Zeus's cabin with Piper and Jason, partly because it brought up a ton of memories of Thalia and partly because she liked hanging out with them. The other part of her time, when she wasn't at class, she was at bunker nine with Leo and the other Hephaestus kids, watching them build Argo II at an alarming pace. She didn't get paid a lot of attention, but the company was nice. It was nice in general.

Of course, the peace couldn't last long.

It was March twenty-fifth at Seven A.M, and Leah had just woken up. She stood up and stretched a bit, a long yawn erupting from her mouth. Her bed was above Miranda Gardiner's, who had already woken up, as the bed under Leah was empty and made. Leah, after debating whether she wanted to live today (her answer was no, but she had to), swung her legs over the side of the bed and landed on the grass. She then proceeded to make her bed and enter the shower, which luckily was empty. She did make sure to notify the other Demeter kids that they could not use the shower as she was in it.

Once she had finished showering, she put her clothes for the day on she had brought with her from the main room: underwear and socks, of course, jean leggings, the camp hoodie and a matching orange headband. She then dried her hair the best she could, put it into a messy ponytail and left the cabin.

It was nice outside, like always at Camp Half-Blood. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, it was beautiful outside.

All in all, it was a lovely day.

Camp was nearly deserted, the picnic tables not even close to full, a small amount of campers scattered around. Leah had chosen to sit at the Zeus table, as had Piper and Leo, although Leo was mumbling under his breath, putting little machines together as he ate his breakfast, not adding to the conversation.

A plate of eggs and bacon appeared in front of Leah, accompanied by a latte in a takeaway cup. She fished a pair of fingerless gloves from her jacket's pocket, putting them on and then wrapping her fingers around the coffee cup. As she sipped her hot coffee, she looked at the other demigods at Zeus's table.

Leo was sitting opposite of her, still fiddling with whatever little machine he had made; Piper was sitting next to Leah, in deep conversation with Jason and Jason was next to Leo, listening to Piper and occasionally sending glances to Leah.

The daughter of Demeter looked around at the camp, seeing how everyone got attention, while she was basically ignored. She didn't blame 'em, she wasn't the best of company, but her friends could've at least asked how she slept, or something.

Not that she would give them a straight answer.

Sure, camp was nice, and sure, Leah's siblings were starting to grow on her, but there wasn't really anything there for Leah. She had friends, but she didn't have any close bonds. The ones she had had she left behind her with the hunters. Leah really thought she and Piper would hit it off, but the daughter of Aphrodite was spending all her time with Jason.
