Chapter thirteen.

[Ares and Aphrodite banter???]

"And we laughed it off, and the night goes on,

when's the last time I checked my watch?

You and I took off, dusk turned into dawn,

I think I might be falling in love."

In fact, it wasn't smart to fire at the people you want to make peace with, although that was quite obvious to Percy. Apparently, he thought bitterly to himself, it wasn't to Leo.

Angry Roman legionnaires had backed him, Hazel and Frank up onto the top of a fountain, their only defense being the blasts of water Percy shot at the Romans and the weapons they currently had on them. A blonde head with grey eyes struck Percy.

"Annabeth!" he called. "What-"

"I don't know!" she replied angrily. Octavian said something from the ladder to their ship.

"You're lying," she said. "Leo would never-"

"I was just there!" Octavian shrieked. "I saw it with my own eyes!"

The ship returned fire again, legionnaires scrambling as to not be stuck in the crossfire. Percy watched Annabeth tremble with anger.

"We have to leave," she told Percy. "Now." He nodded, and turned to Frank and Hazel. "Hazel, Frank, you've got to make a choice. Are you coming?"

Hazel's head nodded from within her cavalry helmet. "Of course we are. But you'll never make it to the ship unless we buy you some time." Annabeth narrowed her eyes. "How?" she asked.

The other girl whistled, and instantly a blur of beige shot through the forum. It stopped next to the fountain, and Percy watched Arion materialize.

"Send me an Iris-message when you're safely away, and we'll rendezvous," she told Annabeth and Percy, her sword being unsheathed. "Arion, ride!"

"So you accidentally fired on the camp with which you want to fight the giants with,"

Leah summed up quite effectively, a worried eyebrow raised. Annabeth looked away guiltily, and Leo disappeared from the screen completely.

"How do you even do that?" Aiden asked exasperatedly. They turned to Leah, their mood flipping. "Coffee?" "Already made," she responded happily. "Can you make me a cup?"

Aiden nodded, and got up. "Sure, flower girl." Annabeth frowned.

"Well, I suspect this will be our last contact until we see each other in person, but I thought I might as well introduce you quickly," she said, and she pointed towards the dining table, on which Percy, Frank and Hazel were playing Uno. Clearly, Hazel was winning, with her one card in her hand.

"Percy you know, Frank and Hazel are the other Romans," Annabeth introduced them, and they looked up quizzically to wave at Leah. She grinned. "Sup fuckers," she greeted leisurely, then her eyes widened. "Sorry for laughing at you being scolded by Reyna, Frank, by the way!" she apologized. The guy blinked. "How did you-"

"Leah's weird like that," Annabeth brushed it off. Hazel and Percy quickly greeted her too, and then the focus was back to Annabeth.
