Lilah and I had been together for about five months now and it felt solid. Although I still technically lived in my apartment, I could usually be found at her house. Even though we had this incredible and unexplainable bond, we didn't want to rush into anything. It was also of utmost importance that Uri would be included that dialogue.

I tried to take a day off here and there to sleep in my own bed, but it was no coincidence that Lilah and I tried to coordinate things so that Uri would be spending the night with his dad, or even his grandma's.

And remember Granny Anna? She had started sniffing around trying to figure out what was going on very obliviously. Her side remarks when she would drop Uri off at the daycare were consistent and on the verge of annoying.

"Maybe you finally see her, you can let Lilah know that Uri might need more of a wardrobe at my house if he's going to be over so often."

"Is Gal aware of Uri staying with me?"

"She barely even calls me these days"

"I hope my little Uri still gets some love too"

The last one really got my goose, oh whatever the expression is. As much as I tried to keep my composure, the mere thought of Granny thinking that Uri is being neglected left a nasty taste in my mouth. So, I mentioned it to Lilah.

We had just finished having a spaghetti dinner, Lilah, Uri, and I, and he had gone to colour in front of the television for a little while. I went to clear the dishes as Lilah had cooked and decided that now was as good a time as any to mention ol' Gran Gran.

"So... your mom has been dropping some not so subtle hints at work about Uri stayin' at her's more often..." The water was finally heating up enough to help attack the tomato sauce drying to the bowls. I heard a groan and a deep sigh behind me before warm arms snaked around my waist to hug me.

"She's just trying to be nosey now, I'm sorry you have to deal with her"

I scrubbed the bowls with the brush and tried not to burn my hands by the water that now was scorching hot. "She knows we're dating right? I'm assuming that's why she keeps directing her inner monologues at me"

"She probably knows... I haven't exactly outright said it. She still sometimes gets touchy about the whole same-sex relations thing."

"Oh." I placed the clean bowls on the dish rack to dry and turned to hug Lilah while subtly wiping my wet hands on the back of her shirt. I earned a yelp and a whack for that.

"What was that for??" She glared at me and separated the back of her shirt from her back as the wetness was uncomfortable.

"Two reasons: First, tell your mom we're dating because her passive aggressive- bordering more aggressive- comments are hella' annoying at work. Two, now you need to take your shirt off." I gave Lilah a cheeky grin, leaning back on the counter.

"You don't deserve to see me shirtless" She huffed and turned to probably go change in the bedroom. I just grinned and shrugged, knowing she would come back soon enough and I'd most likely be seeing her shirtless soon enough. Cue sexy thoughts dominating my brain, oops.

"Get your mind out of the gutter and go put a movie on for us all to watch" she called back from the stairs. I rolled my eyes and headed over to bug Uri.

"Uri-mister! What are we watching tonight?" I fell onto the couch tickling him until he was almost screaming from laughter. I love this kid.

I was at work when I received a text that made me feel a tad relieved but mostly anxious to be honest.

Lilah 🌙: I invited my mom over for dinner tonight, I thought we could tell her about us together, I hope that's ok

I mean, I didn't really get a say in the matter now, but I guess I was glad that we could get it over with at least. I let out a deep breath and tussled my hair a bit out of nervous habit, moments later feeling another vibration from my phone.

Lilah 🌙: I'll cook tonight, dw

Phew.

We were finally all seated at the table, Uri busy with his veggie noodles to bother with the tension in the air. Us adults had a glass of wine with dinner, and I was immensely trying to supress the urge to down the whole glass in one go.

Originally, I hadn't considered that Lilah would necessarily need me around to tell her mom that we were together. Yet here we were, and I felt like a fidgety teenager caught in the act. The "oh you're here" comment didn't help when Anna gracefully glided into the kitchen to see me setting the table. Cue tussling my already messed up short hair again.

I was grateful to Lilah for the secret air kisses and winks of supports throughout the night, I have no idea how she managed to remain so composed. That being said, once a few bites were eaten in the silence of cutlery against ceramic platting, the long awaited for clearing-of-the-throat was heard. I nudged Lilah's leg under the table as if to say, "that's your signal." A quick glare proved that I wasn't being helpful.

"So-" Both Lilah and her mother started at the same time. With a blush, Lilah gestured with her hand for her to go first.

"Well, you've obviously invited me over here to tell me something about you two, so spit it out."

Wow, Gran Gran is straight to the point. Maybe that's why us gays are struggling around it, see what I did there? Anyways, sorry, back to this table trauma and out of my head.

For once I could feel Lilah's nerves as if they were my own, and they were way out of whack.

"Well as you know, Noa works at the daycare and Uri is quite fond of them, and um so am I and..." The mumbling and rambling were not really helping the case according to the sharply raised eyebrow on Granny's face. I could almost see her mouth forming the question of 'them'?

Before she had the chance though, I smartly (I think) ripped the bandage off, "Lilah and I have been dating for the last couple months."

"Well that's beyond obvious." Anna stated bluntly and rolled her eyes chuckling. "I'm not some blind old babushka with half a mind left."

Uh.

"Then why were you making those comments to Noa at the daycare about Uri and stuff?" Lilah arched an eyebrow herself. Well now I know who she got it from.

"Oh darling, its so easy to make her squirm and I wanted to see how long it took you two to say something yourselves." She let out an airy laugh and shook her head at us.

"Them." Lilah said in a quieter tone.

"Yes well, that part I don't get, but I'm sure you will explain it to me, won't you darling? Now, are you two happy?"

Man, this lady is ballin', no mercy for my ass apparently.

"We are" We both answered, blushing at the united answer. Cheesy, but hella' awkward.

"Good then. Now, did you brew any coffee to go with dessert? You did make a dessert, right?" Well, back to busting us I guess, I don't recall seeing a dessert.

I've been trying to practice more time skips in my chapters so that we're not always stuck in one scene/time/day for the whole thing. Did it work? lol

I've got some thoughts for the next chapter ;)
