CHAPTER 28

DANNY'S P.O.V.

My eyes grew fuzzy with madness as I sprinted towards the figure. Why couldn't they let her rest in peace? Whey couldn't they let her die happily? Why!

I yelled as I rammed into the figure. They grunted as they fell to the ground and I struggled to get up so I could give them a good kick.

I finally found my ground and it was at that moment a single moon beam fell upon the intruder's face. I gasped in surprise.

I was looking at the face of Luke.

.............................................................................................................................................

"You!" I whispered. Luke looked at me with wide eyes as he recognized me too. I felt sadness penetrate me as the betrayal became clear.

"What are you doing with her?" I snarled as I grabbed his collar and hoisted him up. He grunted as he struggled.

"I wasn't going to-"

"Liar!" I screamed as I threw him agianst the ground. He scrambled away from me and stood up and I could see a strange fire in his eyes.

"Oh Danny, if only you knew," He said evilly and advanced towards me. More anger bubbled up in my chest and I crashed into Luke. He was fast though and dodged before he pinned me to the ground.

"Not so fun now is it?" He growled and I braced myself for his punch but it never came. He just stared at me, as if trying to calculate what I was thinking.

He blinked at me and let go of me. He turned his back towards me for a second and that's when I attacked. My fangs came out and I felt my animalistic side come out. I had killed before and I was ready to kill again.

I jumped up while he was down and sent a swift kick to his side. He flinched in pain but didn't fight back.

"What's wrong with you Luke? Did Sam turn you into a coward?" I taunted as I kicked him again. This time he sprang up and just stared at me.

"You don't understand do you Danny?" He asked. What was he playing at?

"Tell me Luke. Make me understand," I said quietly, my anger fading away.

"Fine, but don't move," He replied and I nodded. He grabbed a shovel he had rested against a tree and advanced towards Tia's grave once more. I stiffened but stayed still.

He planted the shovel in the ground and hauled up the dirt. I watched curiously, wondering what he was doing.

Finally, after a mound of dirt had been dug up, he hit something hard. I cringed, knowing that it was Tia.

"What are you doing man?" I asked slowly, aware that the castle was burning down around me. But it seemed like nothing mattered now that Luke had gotten Tia involved.

"Just wait,"

Luke put his shovel aside and tried to lift Tia's coffin out of the ground. He grunted when he realized he couldn't and nodded towards me.

"Wanna help?" I nodded speechless and grabbed the other side. Together we lifted Tia out of her resting place and onto the uneven ground.

I stood back and watched as Luke unlatched the lock. He stared at me and that's when I put the peices together.

"Don't open it Luke, let her be," I growled menacingly. I wouldn't let Tia be disturbed now that she had finally found paradise.

He ignored me and with a final sigh, lifted the lid. Before he had a chance to look into it though, I had him pinned on the ground, my hand on his throat.

"I told you not to do it," I said simply and watched as his features shifted. I saw his eyes turn red and his fangs pertrude and knew he was angry.

"You will regret this," and with those words he punched me in the gut. Sharp pain coursed through my body, taking my breath away. I fell off of him and wheezed on the ground as he got up.

The pain was just starting to fade when something exploded in my head. I fell forward, dazed, as it throbbed painfully.

"What-?" I mumbled, the ground swimming underneath me. I could see two Lukes in front of me, both holding a shovel over me.

"I told you man. I can't let you interfer," He whispered and dropped the shovel. I tried to move but my head was too heavy for me to even think properly. All I could do was watch until my Vampire healing kicked in.

I watched fuzzily as Luke walked towards Tia's grave. He took a deep breath and looked into her coffin. He gasped at her face and I saw tears pour out of his sad eyes.

"Oh Tia, I am so sorry," He whispered and slowly bent down next to it. My vision swayed and blacked out for a second but then returned a little bit stronger. It wouldn't be long now before I was fully healed.

Luke grabbed Tia and lifted her out of the coffin and layed her on the grass. My whole head felt like it was going to explode as I stared at her pale complexion and flowing hair. Sadness coursed through me as I saw her eyes were closed, as if she was sleeping.

"Tia, forgive me but it is the only way," Luke murmured and he opened her eyes. My mind blanked with fury as I struggled to get up but only crumbled to the ground again. I was useless right now.

Luke stroked her arm and finally his hand rested tenderly on her wrist. With a final sigh of desperation, he dug his fingernails into her wrist.

I cried out in frustration and felt my strength returning. I stretched my leg out and then put out both of my hands to steady myself as I started to stand up, ignoring the dull ache in my head.

Luke ignored me as he watched Tia's crimson blood flow freely from the wound. He just stared at it with depths of sadness I could never undestand.

Then he put the hand that had been holding Tia on his own wrist and slit it too. I watched in fascination as his own blood poured and he pressed it against Tia's bleeding wrist.

"With these words I speak, I offer my supernatural powers and gifts to you in exchange for her life. May I be weak and struggling as Tia joins the ranks of blood, strong and healthy. I, Luke Pepperman, revoke my spirit so it may rekindle Tia's," Luke's voice rang out strong and clear and I felt myself freeze as ancient powers were awakened.

Then as if Luke was in a trance, he leaned down and kissed Tia's cold lips. He stayed there for a second, as if he was processing something, then gasped as a cold wind blew through.

Then as the wind died away, he fell beside Tia, unconscious and pale.

The spell broke as I hoisted myself up and stumbled toward Tia's body. I knelt down next to her and pressed my hand against her bleeding wrist, trying to make the blood stop. That's when I felt it.

A tiny pulse, so feeble and weak I could barely feel it. But it was there. I stared at Tia with surprise as I watched the pulse grow stronger and the transformation take over.

Suddenly her pale skin was glowing healthy as her lips were plumped and tinted red. Her hair flowed with a chocolate brown shine as her eyes filled with the a crimson shade.

I paused as it stopped and felt her hand beginning to grow warm. What was happening?

A sharp sigh pulled me out of my thoughts and I glanced behind me to look at Luke. He lay on the ground, crumbled and exhausted. Every few minutes he would sharply intake, as if it was more painful than anything else. Whatever was going on inside him, I wondered if he would survive.

Suddenly I felt a small pressure on my hand. I turned back to Tia and smiled in amazement as her hand clenched around mine. I felt my gaze slowly travel up her body and finally rest on her eyes as they flickered to life.

"Danny,"
