Diary Entry #31

Tears continued to pour down my cheek as I felt my heart being ripped out. I couldn't believe what was happening.

"Luke, you are going to be okay. Just stay with me!" I whimpered as I stroked his forehead. He chuckled but ended up coughing up blood.

"Oh Tia. You always had a big imagination," He rasped with difficulty. I grabbed his hand and felt more of my heart die as I watched his pain.

"It's okay Luke. You'll be back before you know it. I'll bring you back with my life and then we can be together-"

"No, Tia. It's too late. You can't raise me even if you wanted. I'm human now so you can't bring me back. But it's okay, I want to die." He wheezed as he brushed away my tears.

"No Luke you can't. I love you! You helped me so much and I won't let you die!" I cried as he struggled to breath.

"Tia, it's fine. I need you to let me go." He said as his eyes fluttered.

"Who stabbed you?" I whispered as I squeezed his hand. His eyes shot open, bloodshot and wide, as I asked the question.

"Tia, I don't want you-"

"Luke, who stabbed you?" I asked again, steely calm now. He cringed and spoke with difficulty.

"Willow,"

My heart dropped as I heard her name and I felt my throat close. I was going to strangle her when I caught her. I would kill her for taking away my mate. I would.

"I want you to become human," Luke said randomly as he fought for breath. I gave him a funny look as he continued on. "I know how much you wanted to be human and how you never wanted to be a Vampire. I understand that and I want you to follow your heart and become human,"

"But Luke, I couldn't let you give up your immortality just so I could become a human," I stated as I entwined our hands together.

"I gave up my immortality so you could be happy, whatever form that is. I want you to enjoy life and I don't want you to live it regretting that you will never die. Do what you think is right but know I support you," He closed his eyes and I leaned closer to him.

"Thank you Luke. You are the best friend I could ever ask for," I savored the moment and him, knowing I could never have it back. I breathed deeply and welcome his scent; his touch and wished I could freeze this moment forever.

"Tia, I want you to know I love you. I want you to be happy and I want you to take Danny as your mate. I will be watching over you and please don't mourn me. My life was the best it could be because I found you. I love you," He whispered as he shattered my fantasy.

"No Luke, please!" I whimpered as I felt his breathing slow. Then it stopped.

"Noooo!" I screamed as I felt his skin grow cold under the night air. Tears poured down my cheek as I cradled Luke's lifeless body. "No, you can't. You can't leave me,"

But it was too late; he was gone.

I don't know how long I stayed there, crouched and crying on the ground. I felt the stars come out but I didn't want to let Luke go. I loved him so much I just couldn't let him go.

Finally I opened my eyes. I looked around and then down at Luke's peaceful face. Even though it was time for me to go, I would never forget him. He was everything to me and no matter what I would always love him.

I brushed the tears away and slowly got up. I took off my sweater and laid it over Luke's head as a shroud. For now, that was the best I could do.

I staggered towards the dark forest that was looming ahead of me. Fury was clouding my vision as I swerved to avoid a tree. I only had one goal in mine; I would kill Willow. I would kill her and make her wish she never even touched my mate.
