Chapter 12

 "I was not planning on telling you but when I left for work, I had the same feeling that I was being watched. Even though I do not have my runes, I still have my instincts. I guess that my angelic powers are still with me."

"I did my part and put up some wards around the building and around the entrance to the apartment. Nothing will be able to get in without setting off an alarm. I want to make sure that my biscuit is safe along with my little nephew. "

"Thanks, Magnus. Thanks all of you for coming."

"I did call them right away. Izzy is the one that convinced me to tell you what happened."

"You were not going to tell me. I thought that you trust me enough to protect you and the baby."

"Jace, I am sorry. Of course, I trust you. It is just that you do not have runes so you are not protected. I was planning of keeping you safe."

"And risk yourself and our child in the process. Clary, I chose to be mundane, but I never agreed to be helpless or useless. I might not have my runes but I still can fight. You know that I have been a warrior all my life and the lack of a few runes are not going to keep me from fighting to protect my family. I thought you had faith in me."

"Jace, I am so sorry. I promise you that I will not keep this from you again."

I love Clary, but I am so angry that she almost kept a secret from me. She does not realize that I am still an angel and a warrior. The lack of runes has not taken away my ability to fight. The only disadvantage that I might have is the lack of sight, but my angelic blood should be able to help me in some way. I just need to see what I can do without my runes. The worst-case scenario is getting my runes back. 

"Listen, Clary, we are a team, a family. We need to work together and that means telling each other things we think the other should not know. No matter what. Promise me that you will tell me everything from now on. No secrets between us."

"I am really sorry. I promise I will not keep any secrets."

"We need to find out why there are demons hanging around our apartment. Is there someone sending them or is it a coincidence?"

"Jace, Alec and I will find out anything we can about this. You and Clary just need to be more careful and try to stay together as much as you can."

"I know we have to be careful, but I have to work and establish my life as a mundane. That is the whole idea I got de-runed, to live a normal life with Clary. Why is that we cannot have our wishes? Every time I think Clary and I are going to have a little peace, something has to come and attack us. I feel like we do not have a right to have a little bit of happiness." 

"I know it seems like that but I am sure that there is a reason for what is happening now.  I promise that Alec and I will find out."

Magnus put his hand on my shoulder to give me some reassurance that he will do his best to get any kind of information on this. I know that Clary might get mad at me but if this keeps up, I am going to start using my runes again. I have to protect her and our baby. 

Everyone left and now is my chance to talk to Clary alone. I hope that she listens to me.

"Babe, I have to talk to you about something, but you must promise me that you will let me finish before you say anything. "

"I promise that I will listen."

"I was thinking that maybe, for a little while, I start using my runes again. I need to tap into my angelic powers so that I can protect you. I am willing to do whatever you want to make you happy, but we have to consider the situation around us first. If we both are mundanes and we become defenseless, how are we going to protect our child? This demonic activity could be because of him. We are both angels, gifted with certain abilities by Ithuriel. Our baby will be a full-blooded angel with some extraordinary abilities that we do not know about. The demon activity could be because of this and when you regained your memories and your runes, it opened a door to some demonic threat."
