To say the music was loud would be an understatement.

It was booming. Bodies danced passed me to the beat of the loud music that shook the floors of the flimsy house, which strangely felt humid despite it being New Years eve, but what could I expect? It was a college party, and a holiday. We all should be home with our families, but who would want to do that? I sure didn't , I was here mostly because of that. I couldn't be bothered to spend time at home where I knew I'd hear the same talk about my grades and how I'm gonna end up being the only college drop out in the family. I needed a stress reliever and he was nowhere to be found.

I adjust the plain black crop top I wore as I stood in the living room, leaning next to a tall floor lamp. My lips press together as I held a red cup in my hand, squeezing gently and feeling the cool liquid. The flickering of the flimsy LED lights on the wall provided small flashes of faces as my eyes darted across the loud living room for one of the reasons I came here: Ryder.

I spot my middle school friend in the kitchen, a large smile on his face as he raises his red cup into the air, screaming along with a few girls he stood with. They all burst into laughter at something he says and throw the booze down their throats in unison. Ryder sure knew how to get a party started.

I shake my head, holding my drink above me as I wiggle between the dancing bodies to the overly extroverted 20 year old.

"Ahh! Logan!" He screeches, his voice high pitched as he skips to me, throwing his arm over my shoulder and motioning to my body with his drink, "This is Logan, everybody say hi Logan!" He slurs, digging his face into my shoulder and muttering, "what the hell do you want?"

"Code blue" I whisper back, smiling at the girls and avoiding eye contact with them while I used my free hand to tuck a curl behind my ear.

"Hi Logan!" The girls yell, giggling together afterwards. I give them a close lipped smile, leaning forward and setting my cup on the Granite countertop. I tried to remember who's house we were in, but I couldn't. I loss track of the countless events Ryder and I, (mostly Ryder) got into.

He looks at me, his lips tightening as he inhales a sharp breath, and I smirk. "ready?" I mouth, nodding my head as if I were singing along while strategically placing my back towards the random girls he had befriended.

"Oh- I think I'm gonna-"

"Oh no!" I play along with his façade. I'd memorized it by heart, "He's gonna throw up, you'll might wanna move!" I yell over the music, fanning the girls away hurriedly as Ryder leans against my arm, groaning uncontrollably. They scream, scattering around as I shove them out of the way, grunting as I had to practically carry Ryder's weight back into the crowd of crazed students and to the first door I had seen.

"Ew, get out," . I scrunch my face up in disgust at the obvious freshman attempting to get busy. They hadn't seemed to be getting anywhere as she was on her knees, completely dressed and helping him put his condom on. He yelps, pushing her shoulder and yanking his jeans back up his legs, scurrying passed us and out of the room. "You too," I gesture towards the door at his counter part, who groans , fixing her bralette and fluffing her hair before shoving passed us. I slam the door behind her and turn to face a suddenly sober Ryder.

"Lo this better be good or I swear to G-"

"Have you seen Ramon anywhere?" I ask desperately. Ryder moans, as suspected, stomping his feet as if he were a five year old. "You interrupted my show to see if I know where your fuck boy is?" He complains. I huff, tilting my head to the side, "He's not my fuck boy he's-"

"The freshman who we basically grew up with that you fuck from time to time, Lo, that's your fuck boy. And I should beat your ass for taking me out of my zone for that stupid shit, "He rambles, I roll my eyes, setting my hands on my bare hips as he pulls his Iphone from his pocket, presumably dialing Ramon's number.
