Harry
I let out a pained groan at the sharp pain in my temple. Before I open my eyes, I screw them shut, my face twisting in discomfort. Slowly they open, the light from the window behind me taunts my headache, forcing me to wake up.
My hand comes to the side of my head as I let out yet another groan, this time sitting up on my elbows. To my left, Logan rests peacefully. Her loud snores coming from the back of her throat fill the room. She lies on her back. One bare leg up, and the other stretched out to the side. One of her hands rests flat on her stomach, the other one behind her head. Her mouth, wide open, leaks a drool that runs down her chin and onto the dark pillow case.
I remember my words from last night. Pretty.
I'm left in a fit of pique each time I find myself staring at her. Everything about her annoyed me. Even when she was nowhere to be seen, her irritating laugh would ring in the back of my head. Along with the image of her brows raising whenever she's taken aback by a comment I make. I try not to think of these things, there's no reason for me to know them. But I do.
I'm yanked from my thoughts at the sound of long acrylics tapping on a phone. I know exactly who they belong to. My eyes flicker from the girl next to me towards the room door, which is left open. I huff in annoyance as I toss the blanket from over my body. My legs are thrown over the bed, letting my bare feet hit the cold floor.
Just as I expected, upon entering my kitchen, there's a familiar dark haired nuisance sitting in stool at the island. When she hears me, her back perks up and she twists the chair all the way around to face me, her left eyebrow piked up and her lips pursed. In her hand, a bottle of Tanqueray. "Oh, brother," She teases sarcastically, her eyes widening. I roll my eyes at her childish antics.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I bite back groggily, running an exhausted hand down my face as I make my way around to the fridge.
"I came to talk to you about this little sister of ours." She sighs, setting the bottle back down on the island.
"Audrey isn't my sister."
"Yeah? Well, she isn't mine either. But her Daddio hit the hay yesterday. Overdose. Mum wants us to be there for her."
"Be there for her, how? We don't even like each other." I close the fridge after grabbing a strawberry-banana yogurt. Though I pity the high schooler, I don't have a relationship with her enough to be there for her. Nor do I want to. Audrey made it perfectly clear how she felt about me the second she heard about her case. I'll send her my condolences like I would anyone else. Besides, it was only so long before the coke head overdosed.
"That's what I said," She burps, covering her mouth, "But, the funeral is next Thursday and-"
"I'm not going."
"Harry, come on. Don't be a dick. Mum really wants us to go."
"I don't know what you want me to say. We didn't even grow up with the guy. You've met him like...what, once?" I gesture to her, my brows furrowed and my face slightly pushed back. Her dark green eyes roll once more as I walk to the drawer for a spoon. "I know Sharon sent you, so you can tell her I said no, too."
"Fine. But you can tell her yourself when she shows up at the study, you know she will." Elizabeth steps down from the stool, her long heels clocking on the floor. Her chanel bag hangs in front of her in her two hands, "And-"
"Do you have any aspirin? My head is fucking killing me."
The spoonful of yogurt stops halfway to my mouth as my eyes dart behind Liz and to the hallway entrance. Logan rubbed her eyes, releasing a loud yawn as she slowly padded into the kitchen area. Her braids were frizzy with the sleep, leaving her baby hairs flying across her forehead, and the dried drool stuck to the corner of the mouth. When her raised arm lifts my shirt up on her thighs, Liz turns to face me, her jaw slack in amusement, dark lined eyes wide. She mouths, "Did you fuck her?" As her finger repeatedly points towards the girl.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you had company."Logan's hoarse morning voice apologizes, her red brimmed eyes growing large as well when she notices Elizabeth. Apparently Liz notices her too. "Nice to meet you again." She chaffs.
"Shut up." I mumble as Logan embarrassedly excuses herself back to the bathroom. I try to ignore the way her ass moves under the thin shirt.
"What the fuck is that about? Is that why all this alcohol is all over the place?" Liz gawks at me, her head tilted to the side. This time. I'm the one rolling my eyes. The last thing I need is Liz in my business. She'll never let me live this down, and if I don't warn her against it, she'll tell Sharon during their tea.
"Don't tell Mum." I take a spoonful of yogurt in my mouth, "And no. I didn't sleep with her."
"But you guys slept together." She squints her eyes, trying to make sense of it.
"And?"
"Harry, that's weird. Why would you sleep with someone and not have sex?"
"You're being annoying." I bite back, fed up with her poking the situation. I don't want to think or talk about this. Especially since these walls are very thin. Now that I know Logan is awake, I really want this pesky older sister of mine out.
"Get, I know you have somewhere to be." I push myself up from leaning against the counter and usher her to the front door, sighing as she throws her head back into a laugh. "Okay, you're right. But this conversation isn't over."
"Yes it is. G'bye now, bugger."
