Chapter Eighteen:
"I don't know how I'm supposed to live without you."
It was the day of Atlas' first quidditch game and she has never been more nervous. Ren and Atlas had decided to go to sleep at a reasonable time to be able to wake up on time. Even though they still had a full day of lessons before the game it was the only thing that was on the young girl's mind. The thought of it made her slightly nauseous but she pushed that feeling to the back of her head.
Lunch rolled around and Atlas had sat down annoyed. She decided not to drink the cup of coffee she usually drinks at every meal since it would make her more jittery than normal. Draco was the only one who noticed that. Atlas picked at the plate of pasta in front of her, distracted from the conversation.
"Atlas, are you worried?" Ren asks her with some slight concern.
"Slightly, I don't want to let you guys down." She admits with a sigh of worry.
"Hey, don't worry about that. As long as you go out there and try your hardest." Ren assures her by rubbing her arm in a loving way.
Classes went by fast. There was so much angst building up from both students and teachers. Even Flitwick had been talking about the game. It was the first one of the school year so Atlas didn't want to disappoint. Her mother had owled her a new kit once she found out her daughter had made the team and sent her congratulations. Her older brother Adonis had even splurged on a new broom for the young girl, wanting her to have one of the faster brooms.
The Hufflepuff team had changed into their uniforms and stood huddled around in a circle. Cedric was still coaching the team not wanting to completely let go of the reins until he left at the end of the year. He wished the team good luck and they had all promised to make him proud.
"I want you to go out there and give it your all." He tells them and they nod in unison.
"Bring it home for us." He shouts and loud cheers broke out between the team.
They all left in a single file line heading out to the field. Atlas could see her brothers in the crowd as well as her friends. Kaia, Aara, Fred and George were decked out in yellow and black in support of the young Lennon. Hermione, Harry and Ron sat close by. Ron held a poster board with the words 'Go little Lennon" scribbled in giant writing which she recognised as Fred's.
This put a grin on her face. It was exciting to see how many people had come out to support her. The one person she couldn't see was Pansy. She wasn't on the team but she wasn't sitting on the bleachers which confused Atlas. She didn't question it though. The Hufflepuff team stood in formation with their brooms to the side. Ernie McMillon had stepped in as a temporary captain for Cedric and stood at the front of the group.
The Slytherin team stood tall and intimidating. Marcus Flint stood at the front of that team with Draco to his right and Lorenzo to his left. Theo stood a little further back, he sent a small wave to Atlas as a friendly gesture which put a small smile on her face. Madam Hooch and Ares stood between the two teams. Ares held the box which contained the snitch, bludgers and quaffle. Hooch stood with a whistle in her hand. Neither of them were wearing any house colours to keep the game unbiased.
"I want a clean game." She announces narrowing her eyes at the Slytherin team.
"You know the rules, once I blow my whistle the game will start." She shouts to try and send the message to both teams.
"If you could mount your brooms." She yells.
Everyone did just that.
"Ready, set." She blows the whistle and Ares releases the items from the box.
