I roll over to my left side pleasingly on the bed when I hear sudden knocking on the door. I peek my eyes open and look over at the watch on the nightstand.
Who's knocking at the door at 5 o'clock in the morning? I try to ignore the knockings, but it gets louder and desperate. I roll over to face Lucas and he is sleeping soundly.
I try to wake him up so that he can get the door because I am too lazy to get up. After we went home yesterday, we eat our dinner, quickly went to shower to clean ourselves from the sweats of running and me shifting and fastly went to bed.
We were both so tired and Lucas has not been getting enough sleep since he always being on edge of when I am going to shift. My attempts fail when Lucas shows no sign of waking up, too deep in his peaceful sleep. I stretch my body and get up from the bed slowly.
When I open the door, the hallway dim lights lit up a part of our bedroom. I peek outside and see Ryan standing there anxiously.
"What's the matter?"
I ask, now fully awake, seeing him in a hurry.
"I tried to mind link Lucas, but he's blocking it."
He tells me and I can see sweats on his forehead. Was he running or something?
"Yeah, he said last night he wants to get some rest. What is it, Ryan? Tell me."
I insist on him to quit hiding behind the bush.
"Rogues just trespassed our border."
He replies quickly. My eyes go wide and I rush back to Lucas to wake him up and Ryan following suit.
"Lucas wake up!"
I scream, and he jolts upward in a defense mode.
"Alyssa, you okay?"
He ask me while checking my body looking for any sign of injury.
"No, I'm fine. Ryan's here. Something bad happened."
I tell him and he look over to Ryan.
"Rogues."
Is all Ryan said and Lucas quickly change his clothes and rush to me, kissing my forehead.
"You, stay here. I'll send Elle to you. Do not come out of the house. Do you understand me?"
His voice is stern and I nod.
"Be safe Lucas. I love you."
I reply.
"I love you too."
He reply as he walks out of the room.
I sit on the bed not knowing what to do. I am worried about Lucas. What if something bad happens to him? I couldn't live without him. All this worrying is making me restless.
Should I go out and see myself what happen? Do I need to help him or something? But I barely survive the shifting. I'm not that strong yet. Next time, I will ask Lucas to train me.
He specifically asks me to stay here so I will do just that. I trust him. He is the Alpha. He knows what he is doing. I decide to take a shower to calm myself down.
My eyes gaze over at the watch and see it is almost 6 o'clock in the morning. So I have been over thinking for over an hour. I walk into the shower and sink myself in the water of the white rectangular bathtub.
It's okay. Everything is going to be fine, an attempt to calm myself down. I soak in the water for about 30 minutes I guess and lather my body with soap and quickly finish showering.
I wrap the towel around my torso and dry myself off. When I get out of the bathroom, I notice Elle is sitting on the couch near the window.
"Hey."
I approach her. She looks at me and smile sadly.
"What's wrong Elle?"
I question her. Her eyes is looking through the window searching for something. Or maybe someone? Oh.
"Hey, everything is going to be okay. It's just another day of rogues trespassing. Don't worry Lucas will be back safely."
I try to make her feels better or more like to make myself feel better. She looks over at me and smile again.
"Trust me Elle, Ryan is safe too."
She let out a long sigh.
"I know Lys, I'm just worried about them."
She looks down.
"Me too."
I reply and give her a brief hug, afraid I will cry, I let her go.
I walk back to the closet and wear my clothes and we sit down and having a brief chat to kill the time. We anxiously wait for them to return home. Breakfast is sent to us to the bedroom. We eat but didn't fully finish it. Both of us are not really that hungry.
They informed me that several of the warrior stay back to guard the pack house and other pack members while the rest have gone to fight off the rouges.
From what I have heard, this time the rouges is a bit vicious, and that's make me more anxious. It has been hours since they left. It is almost 2 o'clock in the evening when one of the pack members come knocking on the door.
"Luna, they have returned."
The petite woman inform me. I mumble a thank you and Elle and I rush downstair to see them. When we arrive downstair, I notice Ryan sitting on the floor with blood all over his body.
Elle jog to him and hug him not minding about the blood that will stain her. Ryan is taken aback by this but a few seconds after, hug her back burying his head in his long dark brown hair.
I search for Lucas but he is nowhere to be found. I start to panic but then slowly calm myself down, focusing on his scent. I follow his scent and reach at the edge of the backyard.
From a far, I see a black wolf under the oak tree near the woods. I recognize him immediately. I run towards him but before I could reach him.
I feel someone hold my hand restraining me from going any further. I look back and see Ryan is holding my hand with Elle beside him. I look at him confused.
"Alyssa, it's too dangerous for you to go there. His wolf was going crazy during the fight. It's not him. His wolf has taken over."
Ryan inform me. I turn my face to see Lucas and take in his wolf form.
His eyes are red and his nostrils flares furiously. Ryan let go of my hand and I stand there not knowing what to do.
"Let me try, please. I'll be careful."
I assure him and Elle. I need him back. I advance slowly towards him. Lucas or his wolf is watching me intently.
I try to mind link him but to no avail, I fail. I guess his wolf form has truly taken over him. When I almost reach him, he growls loudly at me and my body flinch.
Slowly Alyssa.
I'm mentally tells myself. I make a move forward again and this time he didn't growl at me. I continue until I am in front of him.
"Lucas."
Icall out to him. Nothing. I raise my hand and slightly touch his head. His red eyes look directly into me, burning my souls.
"It's okay Lucas. It's over now. Everyone is safe."
I speak to him again. I raise my other hand and place it firmly on his head. I stroke it slowly. When Lucas did nothing, I carefully hug him and he instantly close his eyes.
After a few minutes, I hear whimpers from him. I look over his eyes and it changed back to it normal wolf's eyes color, yellow.
"Lucas, it's fine. Im here. We are all safe."
I ensure him again and he shift back to his human form. I rush to him and hug him tightly.
Ryan speedily prepare Lucas shorts. Lucas hug me back tightly and buried his nose in the crook of my neck inhaling my scent to calm himself down.
"Let's go home."
