My world turned black. What is he talking about? Is this real? None of this is real, right? I need someone to say that none of this is real.

"What do you mean Jared?"
My mother asked him cautiously with her hands on my back, soothing me.

"I'm sorry. We have done everything we can, but we lost the baby. Luna has lost a lot of blood and we couldn't save the baby."
Jared said with a sorrow fill his words. He excuses himself and left us in the hallway.

My knee buckled and I fall to the ground. This is my fault. I left her and it happened to this, but I'm glad that Alyssa is still alive. I want to cry, but I am so weak that my tears wouldn't come out.

I am grateful that she is alive, but how do I tell her that we lost the baby. My mother's eyes glistened with tears. She hugs me and whisper soothing words to my ears which I couldn't understand because I'm in my own broken world.

"Mom, why do I feel like I broke her?"
I confess but not making eye contact with her.

"Oh honey, you didn't break her. There must be a reason things like this happened. You need to put your things together and find who did this. Be strong."
My mother's word snap me into reality.

I quickly get up and walk into the room to see my mate, Alyssa. She is sleeping so peacefully as if nothing happens. Oh, only if she knows. I pull the chair and place it beside her bed.

I hold her hand and kiss it tenderly. I place her hand on my forehead and a single tear escape my eyes. I sobbed slowly trying to contain my sadness.

"Lucas don't cry."
Alyssa speaks ever so softly to me. I don't realize that my sobs has woken her up. I raised my head and met her beautiful eyes. She looked so pale. I smile faintly and caress her cheek. How do I tell her? I am scared.

"Baby, I'm sorry. I shouldn't leave you alone at home. I'm really sorry. It's all my fault."
I cry even harder holding her hands. She slowly raise her hands and put it on my head calming me down.

"We lost the baby."
I told her and she immediately stop her hands. This is the part where she hates me. She is going to blame me for the rest of her life.

"We can try again."
She reply slowly. I lift my head and see her eyes were full of tears. I quickly hug her inhaling her scent. There are no words that could ever describe how we felt that day.

I keep mumbling sorry for her while hugging her. I won't let her go. I made a promise to myself that after this I will be more caring towards her. I will do anything for her.

I love her.

"Why?"
I asked. Why didn't she blamed me for everything that happened?

"You're hurting too."

Later that week, Alyssa can go back home. I spent most of my time with her. I am going to make sure she is okay. Whatever she need I will make sure she has it.

I still did not ask her who did this because I want to make sure that she's fully heal and then I will make sure the person who did this pays for it.

Ryan told me that the triplets saw Jen in the house the day Alyssa fall of the stairs. Ryan had already locked her in the dungeon for interrogation but Jen want to personally talk to me. Alyssa and I had just finish our lunch together outside. We were in the car on the way home that she talked.

"It was Jen."
She told me. I can feel her body tense. I quickly reach for her hands holding it. I squeezed her hands while my eyes are still focusing on the road.

"I know."

"Really?"
She question me feeling surprise.

"Yeah really, in fact after we reached home I'm going to meet and ask her some questions."
I reply still focusing on the road.

"I didn't ask for permission."
She cut me off.

Feisty little girl

"You know, it just, I couldn't believe her doing that to me. She's nice. When I get my cut because of the early stages of pregnancy, she's been nothing but nice to me. There's no way she could have done something like this."
She continues.

"I know baby but we never know what other people's intentions towards us. Looks can be deceiving."
Honestly, I cannot believe it either. Jen has been working in the pack house for as long as I remember. There must be something wrong.

We arrive at the house and I quickly park my car in the garage so that we can settle this as soon as possible. I guide Alyssa towards the dungeon near the border of the pack. We walk through a short tunnel and there she is.

Jen.

Ryan and a few warriors has already arrived by the time Alyssa and I walk through.

"Alpha."
Jen bow to me showing her respect. Alyssa stood beside me firmly, looking straight into Jen's eyes. She lower her gaze and immediately feel guilty.

"I have a message for you."
Jen continue and her voice beams through the cell wall.

"From who?"
I asks her feeling this conversation isn't going to end well.

"From Kai,"

"Kai Raymond."
