Chapter 10

"She's pregnant?"
I ask him in disbelief as I sit back down on the chair. Jared just nod his head and continue his work, writing something I don't understand on the paper.

"Is it bad for her?"
I ask him again as I run out of patience waiting for him to answer. Instead of answering my question, he just stare at me with his stern face.

"I'm not saying this pregnancy is bad for her but I want you to give the extra care she needs because having a child and a wolf growing inside of her will be hard."
He inform me as he take off his glasses.

I ruffle my hair after listening to his explanation and let out a sigh. I lean down against the chair trying to solve this problem. If it's bad for her, then I don't want a child.

We can wait. Call me the devil but I will not hesitantly choose her over our child. I just can't lose her.

After mouthing thank you to Jared, I left his office and walk back to see Alyssa. I have requested for her to be rested in my bedroom. I speed up my pace to see her.

How do I tell her about all of this? She was so shaken up just now and I wouldn't dare to tell her about this.

I slowly open the door only to see my beautiful lady is sleeping soundly with her iv on her left hands. She need a lot of rest and I will make sure of that.

She looks so pale. My heart breaks to see her in this state. She is such a joy and happiness in my life. How could something be so precious as her turn out looking so pale and lifeless like this? I sit at the edge of the bed and my hands slowly caress her cheeks.

I can't lose her and for the first time in my life I feel so scared. Scared that she would leave me alone. All werewolves pray that they would never experience the heartbreak of losing their mate because it will kill you.

I kiss her forehead tenderly and walk out of the room. Seeing her makes my wolf whimper. I need to calm myself down. I feel so anxious and I can feel my wolf whimpering in pain because of our mate.

I meander to the garden at the back of our house and sit on one of the bench there. I take a deep breath and let it all out watching over the sky.

Everything's going to be okay

I mentally trying to calm myself down. My mate needs me and I need to be there for her. I was about to go inside when my mother come and join me enjoying the breathtaking scenery. She faintly smiles at me and rub my tense shoulder to calm myself down.

"It's alright honey. She's a strong one and I know that she will be alright."
She assures me and slightly massages my neck. I close my eyes as I feel a little calm.

"You just need to lend your strength to her."
She adds with a smile never leaving her face.

"She's pregnant mum and I don't know what to do. It can be bad for her."
I confess to her and rub my temple. My head feels heavy.

"You're his mate. I'm sure you know what's best for her and she will surely understand you."
My mother advise me as she rustles my hair making it look messy.

"Mom, I'm not a child."
Hating the way she always treat me.

"You are my child. Now come on, let's go inside. You should be by her side when she's awake."
She picks me up and we walk together inside the house. I thank her for the support she's been giving me since I became the alpha. She is truly my backbone and I love her to death.

She smiled at me. Mother has always been there when I'm at my lowest. She is the source of my strength. Woman is a strong being. I don't know where they get all this strength from and for that, I'm grateful.

Alyssa? Of course she is one of my source of strength but she's my weakness. I feel like all my limbs gave out when I saw her fainted in front of me. I followed my mother inside and rush back to the love of my life.

Her features is calm and beautiful. What a beauty. I sat on the beige couch across the bed and watch her. She tossed and turned and her eyes slowly flutters open.

"Lucas."
She calls out my name. The way she says my name makes me fall in love with her repeatedly.

"Heyy."
I quickly reach for her hands and grip it as she smiles at me. I smile back and kiss her forehead as she closes her eyes.

"Do you want some water?"
I ask her when I notice her dry lips. She briefly nods and I quickly pour her a glass of water. I help her up and she drinks it mouthing thank you after.

"What happened to me Lucas?"
She ask me as she cuddles into my embrace. I wrap my arms around her and peck her head.

"The last thing I remember was seeing you at the door."
She tells me as her eyes glisten with tears. I can sense that she is feeling confused by what happened. I swiftly wipe her tears away and she tugs my shirt.

"Lyss, don't cry. You're fine. I brought you to Jared, and he said you are okay. It just .."
I stop and look at her caressing her pale cheeks and she looks at me waiting for me to continue my words.

"What is it? You're scaring me."
I move my hands and hold her stomach. She looks at me puzzle with her teary eyes.

"Our baby."
I smile and kiss her forehead sensing her emotions.

"I-I'm pregnant?"
She ask me and cry again but this time it is different. This is tears of happiness. Unconsciously, I smile at her and she smiles back.

"Yes."
I hug her and feel like crying too. Seeing her happy makes me happy.

"I love you."
She says and hug me tighter.

"I love you more."
