Single - The Neighbourhood (listen to this to get the vibes of the story)
"Later, Av!" Mikey shouted, grabbing his guitar and heading towards the stage.
Yeah, see you after the gig!" Calum added.
"Bye guys, good luck out there, you're gonna be great!" I said, and I genuinely meant it. I've been friends with these crazy boys since middle school and I know they've got talent. Real skill. I remember when I first heard them play "Out Of My Limit" and the video went viral. They're on their way to make it big, I know it... even bigger than they already are.
I watch them walk away and head out and around to the audience. The atmosphere was full of new and excited fans and I was so proud of the boys. The lights come up on the stage and there they are, ready to go.
I hear the opening begin to play, and the biggest smile appears on my face, as well as everyone else in attendance. The instant energy all over is so obvious and I decide to quickly snap a picture of my friends on stage. Eventually, the crowd picks out the opening to "18" and we all go crazy.
We reach a slightly slower bit of the concert, and I was definitely holding back tears as the boys sing "Amnesia." My gosh, it just gets me every time even though I've heard it at least a million times. Awe, "Beside you" I love this one. I watch Luke, Michael, and Calum lean into their mics as they sing the chorus, "I'm trying to find the words to say... I wish I was, I wish I was beside you."
The harmonies are so incredible to hear live. I'm impressed every single time. And of course, with every song, Michael finds a way to wow the crowd with his skills. They're all so talented, especially Ashton, he never gets the recognition he deserves.
"Hitting every red light, kissing at the stop signs, darling..."
"...my script is ripped and now I see, this is heartache on the big screen..."
As the show goes on, I direct my gaze over to Luke and Michael, back-to-back, full-on jamming out, with Michael's colored hair flying around his face. They reach an instrumental break in the set and Luke bites around his lip ring in concentration. Ashton is practically flying off of his seat upstage, getting very into the zone, as he usually does.
"...and so kiss me kiss me kiss me, and tell me that I'll see you again..."
"...'cause good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught..."
Before I knew it, "She Looks So Perfect" begins with that all too familiar guitar and the band begins to all sing the opening together. Tonight was perfect and the boys were so amazing.
And then Calum started singing. "Let's get out, let's get out..."
And all I could do was stand there, watching him, with the same huge smile remaining on my face from the whole concert up until now. He finds me in the crowd and I see him start to smirk as he proceeds to finish the verse, "If I showed up with a plane ticket, and a shiny diamond ring with your name on it, would you wanna run away too? 'Cause all I really want is you..."
I panic and break eye contact. Oh my gosh. Am I in love?
But, honestly, who isn't in love with Calum Hood?
He's just a good friend though, he's like my brother, I've known him for years. Ugh, I can't think about this right now, just enjoy the last bit of the concert.
"And I know now, that I'm so down... Thank you!" Luke screams and the band bows, exhausted, yet proud.
Then, I make a quick exit. I get out of there as fast as I can.
