Treading Water- The Vamps

Aviana Ross:

I unlock my door, then quickly lock it right behind me. Good old sketchy LA suburbs. My apartment is small but manageable. It's what I could afford when moving here. It's nice though- clean, decorated, with a few rooms. I open the blue curtains blocking the large window, letting the morning light shine through onto the living space and all the way to the small, circular, wooden kitchen table. Back to having normal, uneventful days.

I get the coffee running, and pour myself a bowl of cereal. I wasn't too hungry to eat a ton earlier, so a second breakfast is the move today... as well as running on caffeine and probably a good nap later today. A big thank you to Calum's couch for my lack of sleep.

It really was a less than interesting day. Not much excitement can come out of me sitting at the table, sipping at my coffee as I stared at my phone, then watching a couple of episodes of a show, eating a sad lunch of peanut butter and jelly, and then finally getting that nap in.

Even after waking up, I lacked the energy to be productive in any way. Yeah, I'm not getting any work done today. I pulled some leftovers out of my fridge. Chicken and corn... sure. I reheat it, causing the chicken to become dry, but the canned corn doesn't change except in temperature, keeping its peculiar taste. Now the chicken is bland and dry. I wish I could cook.

I choke down the chicken and the corn and put the dishes in the sink. I'll take care of it later.

I head to my bedroom, not too far from the kitchen, and plop into my bed, grabbing my phone. The boys should be at the hotel by now.

My phone rings, it's Ash.

"Hey, I just think it's easier to say instead of texting it all out. Uhm..."

"Take your time, Av, you know I'm here for you, no matter what it is," he says, comforting me.

"You know how I said I got a weird feeling? Well, you guys were performing, and, uhm, Cal and I made eye contact at one point. It made me feel like throwing up and I don't know if it was a good feeling or a bad feeling... but it happened. And it was intense. And then he was super weird all night and got all defensive with me. I'm probably overthinking it all, aren't I?"

"Oh... Av, do you like him? It's okay if you do,"

"No, Ash, I don't think so... we're just friends."

"I'm not sure how to help you... do you want me to talk to him?" Ashton asks.

"Uh, I don't think that's the best idea... I'm just gonna let it go, I was just overwhelmed at the time. So, thank you, Ashton," I conclude.

"No problem, Aviana, goodnight,"

"Goodnight, Ash, good luck with the concert tomorrow night,"
