PDA- Scott Helman
Ashton Irwin:
Av had spent the night at my house again, and we had fallen asleep on the couch. Her head was laying in my lap and my fingers were tangled in her exposed blue hair. I can't believe she didn't tell me she was going to do that. I'm getting over it now, but I can't say I was the happiest when she came home the other day. She's just so amazing, how could I stay mad?
I brush her hair out of her face as she remains asleep, "Good morning, sunshine,"
She shifts towards me, a small smile forming, but she keeps her eyes closed, becoming conscious.
"I'm nervous about today, Ash,"
"We'll take it slow, and we'll be careful, I promise," I reassure her.
Finally, my eyes meet her bright blue ones looking up at me.
"Good morning, you aren't very comfortable for sleeping,"
"Hey, I said we could move-" I fight back.
"I'm just messing with you, hun"
"Wanna get some breakfast and get ready? I'll make it-"
"Ashton, you literally can't cook," she laughs at me.
"Hey, I'm trying! I just want to do something nice for you, please?"
"Okay Ash, don't burn the house down, I'll be right back," Aviana sits up and goes to get ready, the warmth from her body fading. She heads to my bathroom, and I finally pull myself off the couch to go to the kitchen.
I can do eggs, that's not too hard. And some bagels or toast? Hard to screw that up, right?
Taking the eggs from the fridge, I crack a few into a bowl then pull out the stray shells. Unlike Luke, I attempt to cook the eggs like a normal human being. I grab a pan and set it on the stove, to begin heating it while I mix the eggs and add some salt and pepper. I pour the eggs into the pan and quickly pop some bread in the toaster.
I push the eggs around in the pan, trying my best not to burn them. This is so stressful, I just wanted to make her feel a bit better about today.
Successfully making scrambled eggs, I split them onto two plates and add the toast. Simple, but again, successful.
And as if on cue, she steps into the kitchen. "Well, hello, gorgeous,"
Aviana dips her head trying to hide herself from me, and fighting the smile forming.
"You didn't burn anything?" she asks in shock as she spots what I had prepared, "Oh my gosh, Ash, you're too sweet, this is amazing,"
"It's really not much,"
"Anything you do is wonderful, no matter how small," she responds.
We eat breakfast in peace, just the two of us, then I quickly change for our trip.
"Are you ready, Av?"
"Yeah, I guess,"
I place a soft kiss on her lips to reassure her, resting my forehead to hers, "I promise, everything will be okay, I'm gonna take care of us,"
Aviana presses her lips against mine in return, telling me she understood.
"I'm going to grab my camera, Ash, okay?"
We gather the last bits of our belongings we were taking and make the drive to the arts museum. Av lets me hold her hand in the car this time, and every once in a while, I try to steal a kiss from her at a traffic light. I've never really been comfortable with touching and affection between people, but with her, I feel at home. She makes me feel different. A good different.
When we arrive, we both take a moment in the car to process what we were about to do. It was the first time we were going out in public together, but Av made me promise to keep the contact to a minimum.
I think it was fitting for us to be here. It was something we could enjoy and appreciate, and the chances of running into someone who knew us were small.
When we walked in, the art immediately engulfed us from all angles, and Aviana gasps at the sight. It really was beautiful. I wish I could frame this moment in time, as I admired my sunshine- a human work of art- stand among the canvases and sculptures. It was becoming hard to take in everything else when I couldn't take my eyes off her.
We were standing side-by-side, staring at an oil painting of a landscape when I decided to go for it, "Can I hold your hand, Av? Just for a little while,"
She turns her head to look at me, the conflicting thoughts in her head being broadcasted through her expression.
But after a moment she agrees, "yeah, for a little while,"
I look down to watch my own hand interlace with hers, and I give it a quick squeeze of reassurement.
"Thanks, Av," I say, looking back up to her, the grin widening on my face, I'm sure.
I lead her to the next painting, a bowl of fruit, and we examine that one as well.
It's so relaxing being here with her, leading each other through the rooms, each a world of their own.
When our hands start to get sweaty, she pulls away. I understand though, she's nervous, and I had my time.
We enter the modern art, which has never made much sense to me, but it's still pretty. It's a lot of colors and shapes to take in, so in return, Aviana pulls her camera out.
I sense her stepping away from me, and I can hear the shutter click as she takes pictures of the scenery around us.
"Hold still, Ash, I'm trying to take a picture,"
"Av, that's exactly why I'm not holding still," I joke, "If you take a picture of me, let me take a picture of you then, at least,"
"Deal," she agrees, and I turn back to examine the patterned canvas, once again listening to the clicking of the camera.
I continue posing for her until I'm greeted with a sneaky peck on the cheek from her.
"Thanks, Ash, you're the best," she adds, and I carefully snatch the camera from her.
"My turn," I shoot back with a smirk and take her over to an intricate steel piece stretching up the wall.
"Smile for me, I want to see your face in this one, Av,"
She turns slightly to look over her shoulder, her effortless beauty cannot even be contained within the frame of the photo I took.
She's enjoying it, posing for me, with her hair falling over her shoulders as she adjusts her stance.
"Perfect," I say, handing her back the camera, which she immediately uses against me, taking a snapshot of my face only a few inches from the lens.
She's giggling as I criticize her actions. We're too full of each other now to keep going, and I nudge her playfully as we head towards the exit, our visit coming to an end.
We adjust back to the safety of the car, the last bits of fear finally resolving.
"See, I told you we'd be fine, and my promise lasts past today- you're my sunshine and I wanna keep you safe and shining, Av,"
Aviana blushes again, she's always embarrassed when I compliment her, but I can't help it.
In fact, I can't help a lot of things, and instead of trying to continue any conversation, I lean over to her, my lips crashing against hers, then we find a rhythm moving together. Her fingers find my hair and we're breathing in each other as we channel the adrenaline within us.
This action was new to the both of us, yet we couldn't seem to stop until Aviana finally pulled away after failing to resist the smile forming between kisses.
"You ready to go home?" I ask, a laugh escaping at what had just happened.
"Yeah, I'm ready to go home,"
