Hey guys! This is my first attempt of writing a fanfic, so if I fail, I'm sorry about that... Anyways, critiquing my work is very well appreciated. I hope you somewhat enjoy this story! Also, keep in mind that this whole story will mainly be written through Ayaka's perspective. There may be some times when it's written in Akashi's perspective.
Flashback
Ayaka's POV:
I go to the shogi center like I always do on a Sunday morning. Being a ten-year-old girl, I'm the youngest one who goes to the shogi center. The funny thing is that I can usually beat most of the grown men at the center too! I wish I could play shogi with my family... My family died in a car crash when I was five. I don't talk about it much with anyone; only the shogi master, Mr. Hoshino, at the shogi center knows about my past. He's like a grandfather to me.As everyone is setting up the shogi boards and their individual pieces, Mr. Hoshino announce that we have a new player joining us today. That's nothing special.
"-and that someone is Ayaka's age!" He says excitedly.
I jump in surprise and so do the rest of the men inside the center. Someone my age plays shogi? No way!
Suddenly a young man dressed in a suit with a much older man walks into the shogi center. Why is he dressed so fancily? All I own are a beat up pair of sneaker, a plain green t-shirt, and a pair of gray sweat pants.I then walk up to the red head and say, "Hi there! My name is Ayaka Hayashi! What's your name?"
"Akashi Seijuro." He says very briefly. He doesn't seem like the "friendliest" person I know, but he won't scare me away.
"So you play shogi, huh? I rarely meet people in our age group who even know what shogi is! I'm glad someone you do though." I said.
He then just stares at me intensely and nods in response. What the heck is that supposed to my mean?
We begin playing a match. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE in the shogi center is watching us. I have my "personal bubble" (anyone get the reference?).
After playing an intense match of shogi, Akashi ended up winning. I said, "Wow, you're really good at shogi! We need to play again! Are you gonna become a "regular" here at the shogi center?"
Akashi looks at me for a good ten seconds. Jeez, do I have something on my face?
"I would like that." Says Akashi.
I form a huge smile and I shake hands with him.
"Meet here every Sunday at 11 A.M., ok?" I instruct him.
"Ok." He says, emotionless.
He walks out of the shogi center with a small smile on his face.
