-Joe-
My breathing was uneasy when I drove to the hospital, occasionally going through red lights, determined to get to Elena. As soon as I got there I ran to the intensive care unit, ignoring the many nurses yelling at me to slow down. I walked up to the reception and the very short and plump receptionist looked up at me smiling. "Elena Sugg, she's my wife, where is she?" I insisted, panic clearly audible voice. "Bay B sir, it's the side room just round the corner on your left." She replied. I thanked her and rushed to the room. Outside it were the police, a doctor and two nurses. "Elena's my wife, can I please see her?" I questioned desperately. They all looked at me sympathetically before nodding and following me in. My heart skipped a beat. I went cold all of a sudden at the sight of her lying there. Blood had dried on her face where a huge cut was lying across her cheek. Her hair was knotted and her lip was torn. Her eyes were firmly shut, not preparing to open anytime soon. Various machines were connected to her. Beeping noises sounded around me. "Elena." I gasped. The nurses looked empathetic.
"What happened?" I wondered, now sitting next to Elena, holding her cold hand tightly in mine. "Your wife was hit by a drunk driver. He was arrested. The collision to her side was huge, it's a miracle she's alive." The policeman said. I nodded. He left and the nurses and doctor began to talking to me. "Your wife is stable and her breathing is okay. She has a few fractures to her ribs but she had very serious head injury, which is why she's in a coma. There's no knowing when she will wake up, but you've got to think positive." The doctor explained. He then left me with her alone, finally. I kissed her forehead. "Elena. I'm missing you so much already. I miss your eyes, your crazy laugh, your singing in the shower, your smile and everything that makes you so perfect. I need you to be strong and to wake up. Please. I love you..." I sobbed, I had broken down again. I stayed with her for two hours before being asked to leave. I collected the kids, put them to bed and went to sleep myself, I felt too drained to do anything else.
