Chapter Fourteen~A Flash Of Light.

A loud, piercing ring rang in my ears. My head feels like little people were hammering it to pieces and my back is in so much pain. I hear beeps too. Am I in hospital? I must be. I started to panic. I hate hospitals. I shouldn't panic. I should tell myself my identity. My name is Elena Jane Deyes. I was born on the 16th September 1991, does that make me 33? Unless I've had a birthday? I grew up and live in Brighton. I have a brother, Alfie, and a sister, Poppy. I am a teacher. There is something missing. Then it hit me. I listened to the song I could hear, The Unforgiven II by Metallica, and it all flooded back. I am a wife. Joseph Sugg s my husband. I married him in 2019. I am a mother. I have three children. Gracie is the eldest, Samuel is next, then Chrissy. I want to open my eyes. Why can't I open my eyes? All I could see was red, from the sunset light I presume. I struggle to move slightly. Am I paralysed? Anxiety crushed me. What if I'm paralysed? That has always been one of my greatest fears. I need to calm myself down. I can not allow myself to break into a mega panic attack.

I heard someone come in the room. A shadow drifted over me as I was checked. I had to get their attention. I can't speak. I can't open my eyes. Think, Elena, think! Of course! My fingers! I could tap! I tried my best to concentrate before tapping my fingers on the bed. "Mrs Sugg? Can you hear me?" A woman's voice spoke. I tapped my finger again. "It's a miracle." She gasped before running out. I heard her come in with a extra pair of footsteps with her. A sudden flash of light appeared as my eyes were opened to look into a torch. "Yes she's definitely conscious. Alert her husband." The man said. I heard the woman leave quickly and the man spoke again. "Mrs Sugg, I am Doctor Ryan, you are in a hospital, you were in a car accident and you've been unconscious for five months, it is currently the fifteenth of July, 2024. You may feel intensive pain in your head and your back. Your back will hurt because you had to have a kidney transplant, you developed a kidney infection. You may not be able to open your eyes for a few hours, or speak, it's perfectly normal. Move your finger if you understand." He explained. I tapped my finger to say yes. I felt calmer. Not because I had everything explained, but because I knew Joe would be on his way very soon. Five months. I had missed so much. I missed mother's day, my wedding anniversary (yesterday), my Gracie's birthday, Valentine's Day, so much! I just wanted to see Joe, and my children, I miss their voices.
