I end up throwing up in the bathroom. Everything I ate came flying out of me. I feel so numb. I cry some more in the bathroom. After a few minutes of sulking, I wash my mouth and call Kendra. She would know how to make me feel better.

"Hello?" She answers on the third ring.

"Kendra," I whine.

"What? Emma, what's wrong?" She sounds genuinely concerned. "Are you okay?"

"He's—in the hospital," I murmur.

"Miles?" She asks. I nodded as if she's standing right in front of me.

"Yeah," I answer, I rub my running nose.

"What? How?" She asks.

I tell her everything. Our fight. The things that were said. What the nurse said about Miles attempting to commit suicide. Kendra has nothing to say as I explain everything. She just listens. That's why I love her so much, she's such a good listener.

"Emma, I'm so sorry," She says.

"Can—you come?" I ask. I know that she would need to travel over an hour to come here, but I want her to be here. I need someone to comfort me. I'm being selfish, but I didn't care.

"I—I'm on my honeymoon," she answers. "I'm in Antigua,"

"Oh shit!" I say. "Sorry, I'll leave you alone." I completely forgot that she's on her honeymoon.

"We can still talk, Liam is taking forever to come back from his workout, then he needs to shower."

I took up on her offer. Kendra and I were speaking about everything other than Miles. It was a really nice distraction from being in my numbing state. She spoke about the resort and how nice all the beaches are. It reminded me of when Kendra stayed over, and Miles met her for the first time.

Before Miles and I lived together, Kendra stayed at my house for a night. She was taking an early flight to Ontario to meet up with her boyfriend Liam, and the airport is closer to my house than to my parents', so she stayed with me for a night.

It was the first time Miles ever met anybody from my family. It was his first impression of how I grew up. Then again, it's just Kendra. I remember that we pranked Miles, but he didn't actually fall for it, he kind of knew beforehand, but I guess it was fun to prank him with her. It was the first time that I saw him genuinely confused over something. Thinking about his face still cracks me up.

I woke up and I was excited for the day. I was going to be able to see my sister Kendra! I missed her so much. She lived in Squamish with my parents. So it was rare to see her. This morning, I went to work. Nothing much happened. Surprisingly, nobody yelled at me, and I was guessing it was because I was in such a good mood.

"Why are you so happy today?" Danika asked, she was helping me bag the customers' groceries since it wasn't too busy.

"My sister is coming over tonight," I answered smiling.

"So?" Danika questioned while tilting her head. Her long ponytail fell from her shoulder.

"I haven't seen her in a while,"

"So?" she questioned again.

"And I miss her," I replied.

"Ew," she said crunching up her nose. "I wish I didn't live with my parents and my younger brother. He's annoying as hell,"
