I finally looked at her and saw her name tag. And it read: Angela. Angela. The girl Miles used to date. The name on his ribcage. The girl he used to love. The girl who used to love him.
She was actually very beautiful. She was tall. Her legs were practically her whole body. She was also very thin, her rib cage was very evident. She was also very tan, with tiny freckles contouring her arms and face. Her eyes were bright blue, they were like a pretty sky blue. Her hair was light brown and wavy, but not frizzy, just wavy. She was so pretty, and she looked completely different from me.
"Oh my God, hey," Angela said smiling toothily. Of course, she had perfect white teeth.
"You haven't changed a bit," Miles said standing up to greet her, I guessed. He hugged her casually, being his nice self. A little part of me hated him for hugging his ex-girlfriend, but I didn't say a word.
"Oh, my," Angela said, shocked coated her voice. "You're hugging me in public?"
"People change," Miles answered winking at me, which caused me to smirk.
"How long has it been? Like three years?" Angela solicited while smiling. A little part of me envied how good they look together.
"It's been way too long," Miles replied he was also smiling now.
"We're being really rude right now, I'm Angela," she said turning to me.
"Hey, I'm Emma," I also stood up. I realized how much of a giant she was, she was like almost Miles' height.
"Yeah, she's my girlfriend," Miles said proudly smiling at me.
"Wow, you are so pretty," she said to me.
"Thanks," I smiled at her. "You are too,"
She smiled while crinkling up her nose, then she turned to Miles. "Anyway, I should be doing my job. Sit back down," Miles and I both sat down.
"What can I get you guys to drink?" She looked down at Miles suddenly, "let me guess, a virgin that's not actually virgin lime daiquiri on the rocks?"
"Yeah, I stopped drinking those," Miles smiled while shaking his head. "but sure for old times sake. But actually virgin, I'm driving."
"Emma doesn't drive?"
"I don't like driving," I stammered to save the embarrassment of how we first met. My voice was suddenly so shrilling.
"Okay," Angela said rolling her eyes, she wrote it in her notepad. "But Miles, you're like two hundred pounds and the daiquiri has like twenty percent alcohol, and you're no light-weight."
"I can drive," I offered, just because Miles' face went scarlet.
"It's fine, Emma," Miles said looking at me. "Make it a virgin, please," he replied sternly while keeping his focus on me.
