Kodaviah and Brandy hadn't talked to each other for the whole week.

Not only that.

Kodaviah hadn't even talked to any of Brandy's friends for the whole week, and he was kind of slowly drifting away from the Triple Ks as well.

Forget the Triple Ks.

They were more or less the Double Ks now.

And if Kalahandra or Khamil wanted to leave each other for one reason or the other then they were going to be just a single K instead.

Ever since Kodaviah had agreed to work for Shawntae as well as J Star Valentine, he had just become a completely different person entirely.

But nobody had said that he had changed for the better though, because he didn't.

He didn't change for the worse either though, come to think of it. It was kind of in the middle, that was for sure.

Instead of Kodaviah and Brandy saying hi to each other or just greeting each other in general whenever they had seen each other...

Now they had just given each other dirty looks.

Even worse, they had kind of sent death threats to each other, when things had gotten really abysmal.

Kodaviah didn't really explain himself when Brandy had asked him why he had decided to deceive her and work for them.

Not only that, but when J Star Valentine had asked Kodaviah if Brandy was okay with all of this as she wasn't there when Kodaviah had made up his mind...

Kodaviah had lied and said yes.

They had argued about this whole thing last week, with Brandy remembering almost everything.

Kodaviah was spending the night over at her accommodation because his friends from the Triple Ks had to do something.

And there was a spare room now that Vishavané had left the group entirely.

They didn't live in a student accommodation though, they had all brought a house themselves. Kodaviah didn't live too far away from them either.

"And where the heck have you been?"

Brandy had driven off with Kodaviah with Esther Marie and Khamil, after J Star Valentine and Shawntae's amazing concert.

Kodaviah therefore tragically had to find his way home himself.

Which was not ideal for him because he had hated getting public transport alone, plus all three of them had left him via his car.

That wasn't really fair at all.

Kodaviah had just arrived at the accommodation, with Brandy folding his arms at him.

Esther Marie was flirting with Khamil in her room, and goodness knew what they were doing in there but Brandy didn't want to get involved.

Kodaviah had just arrived at home from the concert, laughing at this funny and very relatable meme that one of his boys had sent him.

He inevitably had more friends than those at the Triple Ks, he just wasn't really as close to them.

In the meantime, he was listening to some music on his phone, more specifically This Is How We Do It by Montell Jordan.

I'm kinda buzzed and it's all because
(This is how we do it)

South Central does it like nobody does
(This is how we do it)

To all my neighbors, you got much flavor
(This is how we do it)

Let's flip the track, bring the old school back
(This is how we do it)

"Kodaviah!"

When Brandy had called his name, that was when he had looked at her, frowning.

"What?"

"You accepted the deal from J Star Valentine and Shawntae didn't you? Even after I told you not to? How could you do this to me?!"

The kid had just given her the dirtiest ever look, not really saying anything else.

"Oh," she had scowled, folding her arms. "So lemme get this straight. You don't care at all that my mother and brother only have 20 days or less left to live?"

She had a point he guessed but why was she saying that Kodaviah had said things that he didn't even say at all?

"Brandy- don't put words in my mouth. I never said that."

Ironic how they were kind of arguing like an argued couple and they weren't one.

They had only known each other for a couple of weeks, maybe more than that but none of them were really paying attention.

"If you cared, Kodaviah- then you wouldn't even have to think twice about making this deal with them! They could be scammers, Kodaviah! Did that thought ever occur to you? Am I the only smart one around here? Seems like it!"

He sighed as he had remembered all of that.

"Yeah- so what? You can't make my decisions for me Brandy. I know you're older and everything but still. Plus you're not so perfect either, dammit. You guys left me at the concert with my car."

Brandy then had another ago at him for accepting the deal, which she didn't really care about that much had it not been at the expense of her mother and brother only having <27 days left to live.

Maybe even more than that if they were lucky.

Most likely less- hopefully not though.

Brandy was keeping them in her prayers regardless.

Right now though, it was lunchtime at university, with Brandy and Esther Marie sitting down on one table.

Vishavané hadn't really talked to any of them since Esther Marie had accidentally on purpose called the girl a burden in her own room.

That was when she had realised that she had had enough completely, kicking them out of her room but not only that.

Completely leaving their friendship group as well.

"I can't believe he would do something like that, who does he think he is?" Brandy frowned. "After everything I said to him as well. He's such a backstabber, honestly."

The best thing about the worst part of people's lives was that they could have seen the true colours of those that had said that they had cared for them.

Or when someone was out of the other person's life, then they could have seen their true colours as well.

Esther Marie sighed.

"Brandy, you can't make up his decisions for him, he's 18."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Then she had explained everything whether Brandy wanted to hear it or not.
