🌟Chapter Sixteen.🌟

"Ernestino and I saw the sign, so how comes both of y'all didn't?" Quentin had snapped at both of them. "And you didn't pay attention to it? That's not good enough. I'm sorry but we have to arrest you."

Kodaviah and Brandy had just escaped the all you can eat buffet, mainly because some police officers were looking for them, and now they had found them.

Apparently, Santarico's shop was a pawn shop.

Which wasn't something that Kodaviah had known beforehand of course, because if he did then he wouldn't even have had to think twice before setting his foot in there.

They were about to get arrested now because of this, with Kodaviah and Brandy having to think of an escape route to at least get them out of this very unfortunate situation.

They couldn't really have thought of any.

The police were just about to arrest them- that was until Brandy could have used the fact that her mother and brother were in hospital right now to her own benefit.

Which wasn't something she would have normally done although desperate times had called for desperate measures.

"My mum and brother are in hospital!"

That was said as they were about to be arrested and handcuffed for good.

When the police officers had heard that, they had stopped dead in the tracks, not saying anything. Kodaviah had reacted the same way as well.

"They're in hospital and they only have twenty seven days or less to live right now."

Quentin and Ernestino had looked at each other very blankly, wondering if she was telling the truth or if she was lying to both of them instead.

But if that was the case, then why the heck would she have lied?

Nobody had really lied about something like this.

If they had done so then things wouldn't really have made any sense at all.

Instead of asking Brandy if she was telling the truth, the police officers had asked her of proof that she was telling the truth.

If she had been telling the truth the whole time then they would have let Kodaviah and Brandy go, although if not then they wouldn't have done so instead.

"Of course she's telling the truth, why does she need proof?"

"Some people have lied about this so as to get out of jail," Quentin explained. "Not exactly what she said although they had lied about someone they were close to being in hospital, even if they weren't."

People had done that?

That was just wrong on so many levels.

Either way, Brandy had proof that she had been telling the truth, and she had decided to call her mother on her phone.

Her phone was located right next to her on her hospital bed, and Brandy didn't even think that she would have picked up at all however she was clearly mistaken.

After Deshauna (Brandy's mother) had answered the phone, she had showed her face to the police officers.

Brandy had decided to FaceTime her mother to make everything in which she was saying right now more believable.

"Brandy, why the damn hell am I seeing two policemen? I hope you ain't got yourself into trouble again, young lady," her mother had said to her through the other end of the phone, hoarsely.

"No, mum. I just needed to show some proof about something. But don't worry, I'm not in trouble."

What a huge lie.

Quentin and Ernestino had still believed her regardless, which was when Brandy had ended the call once and for all.

They had apologised for not believing her over anything before, agreeing to talk to J Star Valentine about everything.

Apparently, J Star was Ernestino's nephew.

Which had sounded way too good to be true although it actually wasn't.

Ernestino had kindly asked J Star if Kodaviah and Brandy could have gotten front row seats to his concert tonight.

And thank God that the two of them were close because if not then J Star Valentine might have said no to everything.

J Star needed to see what Kodaviah and Brandy had actually looked like though, so that when they were in the queue for his concert then he would have been able to spot them easily.

Therefore hearing that, Ernestino had then decided to take a picture of Kodaviah and Brandy together, both of them freaking out a little bit when the police officers had thought that they were a couple.

They would have made a cute one however they hadn't really known each other for that long.

At the end of everything, Ernestino had sent a picture to J Star, letting both of them off the hook, the police officers praying that Brandy's mother and brother would have also made it out alive at the end as well.

"Are you mad at me by any chance?" Kodaviah had asked her when both of them had gone.

"I was," she had confessed to him. "But not anymore."

Brandy had then invited Kodaviah around to her accommodation at university. Boys weren't really allowed in there but she didn't care.

"I don't know, Vishavané. I'm starting to think that it was a huge mistake ditching Brandy for this."

Whilst Brandy was making her way over to her accommodation with Kodaviah, Esther Marie and Vishavané in the meantime were already there.

Those three had lived in the same flat as each other, along with two other people in which they weren't really that close to at all come to think of it.

Esther Marie and Vishavané were in Vishavané's room, and they had been there since Kodaviah and Brandy had been with each other at the hospital.

They were sitting down on the bed together, discussing something.

"Yes, but you know my situation sis. You know how much this means to me."

Esther Marie had sighed. Vishavané had a point.

She was also about to say something although she had stifled it when she had heard Brandy and Kodaviah walk into the accommodation together.

They were also laughing about something as well.

They had freaked out internally.

"Brandy just arrived. What the heck are we going to do now?"

Esther Marie didn't know about Vishavané but she was going to try and reconcile with Brandy.

It was a huge risk, as it probably would have backfired.

Although she was willing to take that risk.

Saying that, Esther had then left her friends room, thinking of the right time to talk to Brandy about everything.

Easier said than done though.

Way easier.

Why Esther and Vish had ditched Brandy for something else will all be revealed in the best chapter! I promise :)
